S. Craig Zahler, the director of cannibal western shocker Bone Tomahawk and Vince Vaughn gritty prison drama Brawl In Cell Block 99 is back with DRAGGED ACROSS CONCRETE
When people first feasted their eyes on Bone Tomahawk, it was no surprise that certain scenes went viral. It had some of the most brutal killings that were capable of scaring the most hardcore of horror fans.
With a directorial debut as impressive as Bone Tomahawk, it’s easy to see why this director was someone to watch out for.
His follow-up to Bone Tomahawk was Brawl In Cell Block 99. A gritty, violent prison drama that saw Vince Vaughn continue to take a more serious approach to his acting (sorry, Owen Wilson). We first got a glimpse of a more serious Vaughn with True Detective S02. He was both criticised and praised for his role. My opinion, I thought he was fantastic.
Just like Bone Tomahawk, Brawl In Cell Block 99 had some shocking scenes of violence. It was a completely different vibe, different genre, different style. One thing was for certain though, S.Craig Zahler seems to be a master at delivering raw, relentless cinema.
Dragged Across Concrete reunites Vince Vaughn and S.Craig Zahler which marks their second collaboration together. Is this the start of a beautiful director/actor relationship? I surely hope so. Mel Gibson co-stars alongside Vaughn, which also marks their second collaboration together since Hacksaw Ridge
The story follows two cops who get caught up in the criminal underworld after getting suspended due to their own brutal form of lawful justice.
