Watch the first trailer for new Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds sci-fi LIFE
Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds lead an impressive cast in LIFE, the new film from Safe House director Daniel Espinosa.
Other cast members include Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation), Olga Dihovichnaya (House Of Others), Hiroyuki Sanada (The Twilight Samurai, 47 Ronin) and Ariyon Bakare (The Dark Knight, Jupiter Ascending).
The film is set to be released in theatres on May, 24th, 2017. It previously has an earlier date but was pushed back as it would’ve clashed with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and the new Power Rangers movie.
The film focuses on a team of astronauts on the International Space Station tasked with finding life on Mars. They find an unknown sample and begin studying it (which never seems to a good idea in sci-fi’s). The sample proves to be a lifeform and proof that that extraterrestrial life exists.
In proper sci-fi fashion, the sample starts to mutate and manifest into something stronger than anything the human race has ever faced.
Life looks like a solid sci-fi, and it also sounds like quite the mind-fuck. Although it doesn’t seem as dark as sci-fi cult classic, Event Horizon, I am still getting that same sort of buzz.
The trailer was great and didn’t give away too much of the storyline. All we see is tiny sample but clearly by the end of the trailer the astronauts are running from something enormous.
“Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.”
