New Irish Zombie Drama THE CURED Proves There Is Still Life In The Genre

The Cured Irish zombie movie

NOT VERY OFTEN AN ORIGINAL ZOMBIE MOVIE COMES ALONG. NEW IRISH ZOMBIE FLICK, THE CURED LOOKS TO BE ONE OF THEM

I know what you’re gonna say “ffs Moviehooker, not another zombie movie”. This is where I’d tell you to shut your face and read on!. The Cured doesn’t sound like any old zombie flick.

The Cured is a fresh look at the zombie apocalypse, or the devastation it leaves behind. Another reason for us to get behind this movie is that it’s IRISH. It’s the directorial debut from Irish writer/director David Freyne.

The zombie apocalypse is over, and the survivors begin to rebuild society. Plagued by horrific memories, The Cured must now live with the atrocities they committed when infected.

The Cured is an interesting concept. We will see the zombie outbreak told through flashbacks of the once infected.

Ellen Page takes on the leading role and also produces.

The Cured recently had its premiere at Toronto International Film Festival. Every review I have read for this new Irish horror has been promising and positive. One review mentioned both Children Of Men and 28 Days Later in the same review…what more could a horror fan ask?.

The film also stars Irish actor Sam Keeley, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, AKA, everyone’s favourite Dublin gangland member, Nidgey from Love/Hate

OFFICIAL PLOT

A disease that turned people into zombies has been cured. The once-infected zombies are discriminated against by society and their own families, which causes social issues to arise. This leads to militant government interference.

No trailer available yet. I am hoping we’ll get one soon as it just had its premiere at Toronto International Film Festival. Hope you enjoyed finding out this movie as much as I did. Thanks for reading.
