When Animals Dream is a new werewolf movie from Denmark and the directorial début from Jonas Alexander Arnby. I first brought the film to your attention back in February as one of my top picks from this year’s film festivals, and the new trailer further proves that this should be on the watch-list of every horror fan.
The film has been really well received and has got some fantastic reviews since it’s première at Cannes Film Festival. It has been compared to horrors like Let The Right On In and Ginger Snaps. Further information and release info to follow when it’s announced.
Official Plot (Wiki)
Marie (Sonia Suhl) is a shy nineteen-year-old growing up in a remote fishing village in Denmark where she lives with her father Thor (Lars Mikkelsen) and mother (Sonja Richter), who is comatose and confined to a wheelchair. She’s bothered by a strange rash that develops on her chest, only to become more unnerved when she begins to sprout hair. During this time Marie begins working at a fish processing plant where her co-workers bully her under the false premise that it is hazing and not intended to be malicious. As Marie’s body undergoes more changes, she begins to realize that her family has been hiding strange secrets and that her mother’s current condition may relate to what Marie is currently going through.
