Are we finally going to get a sequel to 2009’s Zombieland?, will we get to see more Tallahasse?, more Columbus?…. and more of the master of disguise, Bill Murray blending in with the undead, just getting on with life?
A few days ago Sony confirmed that they are still in the early stages of developing, Zombieland 2 with the hope of original writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning with director Ruben Fleischer.
It is uncertain if the cast from the original 2009 film can be brought back together to battle the undead once again, I’m sure they have insane schedules and it might not be possible. How good would that be if all the cast got back together?, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone. Abigail Breslin and we can’t forget Bill Murray.
We do know that Jesse Eisenberg would love to reprise his role and he thinks the rest of cast would as well – he had this to say in a recent interview…
“It’d be wonderful to do. I know they’ve been trying to do it for a while, and I know they’re trying to figure out exactly what will occur in it. But it’s a kind of movie that, as soon as it came out, seemed appropriate to generate a sequel. … It takes place in this odd, created world and features an ensemble of interesting characters that it’d be curious to see more of. I would hope that it happens, and I’m sure everybody would be happy to do it if it happens and it’s good. It’s also a strangely beloved movie, so it’s a thing you have to get right. Some sequels you don’t have to get exactly right, but this is the kind of movie you have to get right because people like it for personal reasons, even though it’s a zombie comedy.”
Zombieland was made for $25m and raked in nearly 5 times that at the box-office
Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are currently smashing the box-office, breaking records for the past month as the guys who penned the script for much loved R-rated Marvel flick, Deadpool.
