In need of a sci-fi splatterfest? Check out the trailer for UPGRADE.
It’s very rare that a film featuring all-out mayhem, blood, guts and gruesome kills gets past us here at Moviehooker. These are the films we love to help promote in any way we can. Yesterday, I was shocked to see a trailer for upcoming ultra-violent sci-fi UPGRADE.
Usually, we have a painstaking wait when following something so epic. We’re usually following the film from early pre-production which means we have to wait what seems a lifetime until we get to see the finished product. Thankfully, I’m also a member of a few awesome FB Groups, if it got past me, then I know for a fact, it won’t make it past some of these group members. When the trailer for Upgrade was posted, my mouth dropped to the ground as I was shocked at the level of violence in the Red-Band trailer.
Set at a time when computers basically run our genetic systems, a technophobe feels he is left with no choice but to embrace our computer overlords and implants himself with a chip called STEM. This UPGRADE turns our lead character into the ultimate killing machine.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS (Google)
A brutal mugging leaves Grey Trace paralyzed in the hospital and his beloved wife dead. A billionaire inventor soon offers Trace a cure — an artificial intelligence implant called STEM that will enhance his body. Now able to walk, Grey finds that he also has superhuman strength and agility — skills he uses to seek revenge against the thugs who destroyed his life.
The Red-Band trailer for Upgrade was so impressive, I’d be happy as a pig in shit if this was the only action in the movie…I mean, it’s insane.
From writer/director Leigh Whanell who first burst onto the scene back in 2004 with Saw. Whanell also played one leads in Saw, the photographer, Adam. Since the first Saw movie I’ve always thought that Whanell toned down the violence in his movies. I am so glad that this is his next project. I can safely say that Whanell is back, and bloodier than ever.
UPGRADE is due for release on June 1st. Enjoy the trailer, hope you’re not squeamish.
As always, thanks for reading.
