One of the great visionaries of South Korean cinema brings his talents to Netflix in an all-star cast feature, OKJA
It’s no secret that moviehooker is a huge fan of South Korean cinema, it’s the very bloodline of my website. When I found out that one of my favourite directors has a new Netflix feature called OKJA – I nearly took a panic attack.
Bong Joon Ho gave us South Korean classics like Memories Of Murder, The Host, and Mother. His first American/South Korean collaboration was Snowpiercer (now being adapted into a TV series).
Snowpiercer brought together the biggest names in Korean cinema and Hollywood. OKJA is doing the same, only this time the world will get to witness this man’s filmmaking abilities via Netflix.
OKJA stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano as well as a star-studded Korean cast.
I mentioned that the creature in OKJA reminded me of Falkor from The Neverending Story. I was wrong, OKJA looks like a mystical hippo and I have no problem with that at all.
A young girl named Mija risks everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend — a massive animal named Okja.
