Ryan Reynolds has a new film coming out called FREE GUY and it sounds like it is going to be a lot of stupid, violent fun!
FREE GUY is due for release on July 3rd, 2020. It seems to be the hottest mainstream movie news on the internet at the moment. Here are all the details…so far.
In Free Guy, Ryan Reynolds plays a bank clerk stuck in some sort of Groundhog Day routine. He realises that he is a character in a “brutal” open-world video game. Not only is he a character in this game, but he is also the hero, and the fate of the world all depends on him. Wow, that’s some heavy burden to bear!. His only friends don’t believe that he is to be the saviour of mankind. He receives the help of a young programmer called Molotov Girl who controls him in the game. In the real world, Molotov Girl is investigating the theft of the game, the game that she initially coded and created. As the game progresses he starts to question everything and everyone around him.
Also starring Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows), Joe Keery (Stranger Things, After Everything), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Bird Box) and Jodie Comer (Doctor Foster, Killing Eve).
Free Guy is directed by Shawn Levy (The Internship, Real Steel) with a script written by Matt Lieberman (The Christmas Chronicles). The film is produced by Berlanti Productions & Twentieth Century Fox (soon to be Disney).
It reminds me of a mash-up of movies like The Truman Show, Gamer and, of course, Groundhog Day.
