Riders of Justice: Trailer+release date for new Mads Mikkelsen revenge film

Riders of Justice is a new revenge thriller/comedy starring  Mads MikkelsenNikolaj Lie KaasAndrea Heick Gadeberg

Riders Of Justice has been on the radar now for a little under a year. I shared a small clip last year on social media and that clip didn’t even have subtitles but with Mikkelsen involved with director Anders Thomas Jensen again, I knew this was going to be something great. And, of course, Mikkelsen rocking the beard and jacket just like our beloved fallen hero, Richard in Shane Meadow’s, Dead Man’s Shoes.

Riders Of Justice tells the story of a man who lost his wife in a train crash. He travels back to Denmark to be with his only daughter, Mathilde to mourn. He is then approached by a mathematical genius that shows him that the train crash was far from an accident.

RIDERS OF JUSTICE TRAILER

So, for those of you that are not familiar with writer/director Anders Thomas Jensen, I thought I would tell you about his other quality movies you may have missed that also star Mikkelsen. Jensen & Mikkelsen are sort of like the Danish Scorsese and DiCaprio. They have worked on a few projects together. I thought I would hook you all up with the information on those movies.

THE GREEN BUTCHERS

The Green Butchers is a macabre horror-comedy about a couple of friends who decide to open their own butcher shop after taking too much shit off of their boss. When An electrician dies in the freezer of their new shop, there are two things they can do – 1, do the right thing and phone the cops…or, 2, sell the dead dude in the freezer as marinated chicken to their gullible customers. Which one do you think they choose?

This was just a tonne of fun and reminded me quite a bit of the French classic Delicatessen

ADAM’S APPLES

After The Green Butchers, there was Adam’s Apples. It is more of a dark drama than anything. It couldn’t be more different from The Green Butchers proving that they can almost tackle any genre.

The story of an ex-con neo-Nazi that is released into the care of a church before being allowed back into society. The film deals with the relationship between the neo-Nazi and the devoted church priest. Not much to it on the outside but Adam’s Apples is a deeply moving, thought-provoking and powerful film.

These three are the only ones that I know that Jensen and Mikkelsen have collaborated on. If I have missed any films, then I would be delighted if you were to let me know. I really hope that some of you ain’t heard of these flicks before. If so, you guys are in for a cinematic treat.

As always, thanks for reading.

Riders Of Justice is due for release on the 21st of May

3 newly released films you should check out on amazon prime

A list of newly released films on Amazon Prime Video I think you should check out.

To be honest, it seems that Amazon Prime Video has been a little slow with original content lately. Even though this list only features three films I thought they were all great. We are just not getting enough of them. Let’s get to it.

NEWLY RELEASED FILMS ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO – I CARE A LOT

Rosamund Pike delivers another phenomenal performance in I Care A Lot. The story of a care worker who has been scamming her clients and taking control of their assets and money. She hears about the perfect client: An elderly woman; rich, forgetful…and more importantly: no family…or that’s what she thought. Her life is thrown into chaos when her only son, a mob boss comes asking questions about why his mother is being held against her own free will in a care home.

Co-starring Peter Dinklage as the mob boss, Diane Wiest and Macon Blair, I Care A Lot is a dark and odd comedy that may be a bit too odd for some. And, man, it was great to see Diane Wiest again. She did not disappoint.

NEWLY RELEASED FILMS ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO –SOUND OF METAL

Riz Ahmed stars as a metal drummer who tours out of a van with his girlfriend. During their recent tour, Ruben learns that he is going to lose his hearing. The film follows his journey which is fuelled by bitterness, anger, resentment and acceptance.

The acting in this film is just off the charts. Riz Ahmed’s powerful performance is equally heartwarming as it is heartbreaking.

Don’t be expecting any action with this one. Sound Of Metal is as dramatic as they come but it sure does pack a punch.

After watching, I went and checked out some reviews and I was surprised to find complaints about the sound design. I thought the sound design was perfect but I guess I can get why some people wouldn’t like it. We get to hear (or not hear) what the character is going through; from the ringing in the ears to the full-on deafening silence. Then, just out of nowhere in what would seem like a normal establishing shot in any other film, there’s almost a piercing clarity and an explosion of sound. We get to hear this, our lead character doesn’t. It really made you appreciate the tiny little things that we all take for granted every day.

A lot of actors in Sound of Metal is from the deaf community. One of the leads in the film (Paul Raci) grew up with deaf parents. He is a prominent figure in the deaf community and also performs in an ASL (American Sign Language) Sabbath tribute band called Hands of Doom.

NEWLY RELEASED FILMS ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO – THE MAURITANIAN

Another drama, this time starring Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch Tahar Rahim & Shailene Woodley

This film has popped up in a few groups on social media so I decided to take the plunge and watch it. Based on a shocking true story, The Mauritanian tells the story of the false imprisonment of Mohamedou Ould Slahi by the American government. Jodie Foster plays the lawyer who takes on the case to prove his innocence.

We have seen a similar plot in a thousand movies but this was a frightening watch. I was hoping it wasn’t gonna be another film with the Americans being made out to be heroes defending freedom and it wasn’t. I am not familiar with the true story but the film came across as factual and truthful.

The performances were great all-round but without a doubt, it was Tamir Rahim that held the torch in The Mauritanian.

Well, that’s it for this list of newly released films on Amazon Prime Video. As always, thanks for reading.

Fan of The Boys? – Check out Robert Kirkman’s Invincible on Amazon Prime

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is back with Invincible, a new ultra-violent animated series on Amazon Prime – and it’s damn good!

Invincible tells the story of Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) a seemingly normal teenager and son of Omni-Man, an extraterrestrial superhero with Earth-shattering powers. Eventually, Mark will inherit his father’s abilities and join him in fighting crime and laser-beaming people in half. He starts to realise, that his father, the most powerful being on the planet isn’t the hero everyone thinks he is. He might just be just like a version of Homelander -only with a Tom Selleck moustache (That’s a fantastic combination). Heads will roll. Guts will spill.

Omni-Man

And, man, what a fantastic cast. We have Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Mark Hamill, Zachary Quinto, Seth Rogen, Clancy Brown, Walton Goggins and loads more.

And Amazon Prime caught me again. I thought I was sitting down to the full first season. Nope. There were only three episodes which left me with a thirst for more. Thanks for that Amazon. So now the wait begins for episode 4. I can’t wait. I am really enjoying it.

Invincible first appeared in an issue of Savage Dragon in 2002. It then got its own series and was published in 2003. It ended in 2017 after 144 issues.

If you fancy yourself some adult animation and beautiful gratuitous ultra-violence then stop what you’re doing and go and check out Robert Kirkman’s Invincible on Amazon Prime Video.

How long until the news is announced that we will get a live-action version or spin-off movie? I’ll give it one month.

Season one consists of 8-episodes. Only 3 episodes have been released so far. It’s up to you, check it out now and wait weekly or starve yourself so you can binge it in its entirety. Either way, I hope you enjoy it.

As always, thanks for reading.

Trailer + Poster For Irish Vampire Comedy

We always need new vampire movies in our lives. Luckily for us, we have a new vampire comedy from Ireland – The Boys From County Hell.

I have been hearing great things about The Boys From County Hell. Being from Ireland myself, I should have had this covered a long time ago. I remember seeing it at festivals that I couldn’t commit to cover this year. That was a shame but hey, better late than never, right?

The title of the movie is also the name of a Shane MacGowan song he recorded with The Pogues. I bet ya when Macgowan wrote those lyrics, he didn’t think the title would be used for a vampire movie set in the futuristic year of 2021.

Chris Baugh directed and co-wrote with Brendan Mullin the brilliant Northern Irish film Bad Day For The Cut. If you haven’t checked out Bad Day For The Cut then please do!. It is great, and it is on Netflix.

Now, back to the vampires.

Shudder has acquired the rights to Chris Baugh’s Irish vampire comedy, The Boys From County Hell. Check out the press release, trailer and poster below

Shudder Logo - Moviehooker

When construction on a new road disrupts the alleged grave of Abhartach, a legendary Irish vampire said to have inspired Dracula. Deadly and sinister forces terrorize the work crew. Led by Francie Moffat and his son Eugene, a free-spirited young man who prefers pints to pickaxes, and they’re forced to fight to survive the night while exposing the true horror that resides in the town’s local myth.

The Boys From County Hell poster

Starring Jack Rowan (Peaky Blinders), Nigel O’Neill (The Bookshop), Louisa Harland (Derry Girls), Fra Fee (Animals, the upcoming Hawkeye series) and John Lynch (The Terror, The Banishing) and Michael Hough (the upcoming Chapelwaite series). TV Shows You May Have Missed – Part 2

As promised, we are back with a list of 4 tv shows that you may have missed. We hope you enjoy it. For Part 1 – CLICK HERE

INFORMER

TV Shows You Might Have Missed Part 2- Informer

Starring Paddy Considine, Nabhaan RizwanBel Powley. Informer focuses on Raza, a Londoner whose family is from Pakistan. After a night out with some mind-altering substances, Raza finds himself in a cell and done for possession with intent to supply. He was caught with only 4 ecstasy tablets which were for personal use. But the cops see an opportunity to turn him into an informer that must report terrorist activity.

Instead of facing a sentence, Raza agrees to be an informer for the police which puts himself and his entire family in grave danger.

As a big fan of Paddy Considine, I think Informer is his angriest and best role since playing Richard in Shane Meadows’ Dead Man’s Shoes. It was great to see him unleash the beast again!

THE CAPTURE

Another British series. Capture focuses on a soldier called Shaun. After facing trial for the murder of an Afghan rebel while on duty, Shaun is let off the hook due to poor evidence.

On his first night back, something happens to Shaun that changes his life forever. He insists on his innocence but all evidence is showing nothing but guilt.

Capture was a superbly acted and written series. Sometimes seeing what our future can bring can be scarier than any written fiction

FUTURE MAN

TV Show You Might Missed Part 2 – Future Man

OK, I will say that Future Man won’t be for everyone. I have tried it before and couldn’t get into it. I am glad I gave it another chance, it is really quite enjoyable and clever.

A gamer is recruited by two bounty hunters from another planet to help stop an apocalypse by aliens known as Biotics. If you can imagine a character like Jobe from Arrested Development then you wouldn’t be too far away from, Wolf, one of the bounty hunters.

Some really great hilarious moments in this. There is a bit of cringe humour too but in my opinion, the good outweighs the bad.

In a way, it sort of reminded me of, Community. Even though Community wasn’t always that funny, there were so much hidden Easter-eggs for a movie lover. Whoever wrote it knows their movies and they test your knowledge too and I found all of that a joy to watch.

Mr Inbetween

TV Shows You Might Have Missed Part 2 – Mr Inbetween

Mr Inbetween focuses on the day-to-day shenanigans of Ray. Part-time father, full-time hitman.

Based on the movie The Magician after a series adaptation of Scott Ryan’s film was picked up by FX. This series has everything. It is gritty, violent, heartfelt, charming and deliciously morbid.

Directed by Nash Edgerton (bro of Joel). It is written and stars Scott Ryan as Ray, the loveable, yet terrifying hitman. All that dude gotta do is smile and he can send chills down your spine. Fantastic acting and a fantastic character.

The only complaints I have about this series is that season one has only 6 episodes and each episode has a runtime of just over 20-minutes. Season 2 consists of 11-episodes which is way better but we still have the 20-minute run-time. THERE IS JUST NOT ENOUGH!

The Magician is quoted as “Chopper meets Leon” and I think that’s a great comparison. Mr Inbetween is up there with the best

That's it for this list. I hope there something in here for you to enjoy and binge-watch. As always, thanks for reading.

New Netflix Arrivals Feb/March

We are back with another list. This time focusing on new Netflix arrivals that have just arrived or getting released in March. I have thrown in a few movies that I have put on the back-burner because of poor reviews etc. Still, they might be worth checking out now that they’re on Netflix. I hope you enjoy the article.

CAPONE – 25th February

New Netflix Arrivals – Capone

Capone stars Tom Hardy in a semi-biographical movie about legendary gangster Al Capone. The film focuses on Capone getting dementia and being tormented by his past and the crimes he committed.

There was a huge buzz surrounding this movie when the first pics of Tom Hardy were released. Then when the movie finally released, it got butchered. Make your own mind up and watch it on Netflix. At least the make-up looks great!

US – 28th February

New Netflix Arrivals – US

This one ain’t for me, but that doesn’t mean some of you guys won’t like it. Us is from director and writer Jordan Peele and the follow-up to his hugely successful hypno-horror Get Out

A family on vacation are terrorised by what looks like evil versions of themselves.

ALICE – 1st March (Series)

New Netflix Arrivals – Alice

There has been no slowing down in amazing content from Asia, imparticular, South Korea. We have so many great, dark dramas like Strangers From Hell, Voice, Signal, Partners for Justice, Stranger…I could go on and on.

Another thing that keeps popping up in South Korean crime dramas’ is time travel and that is what we have with Alice.

A detective investigating a group of murders and possible serial killer comes into contact with time travellers.

Netflix have just announced that they plan to spend a staggering 500 million dollars on South Korean content in 2021.

THE ART OF SELF DEFENSE – 4th March

New Netflix Arrivals – The Art Of Self Defense

Starring Jesse EisenbergAlessandro NivolaImogen Poots, The Art of Self Defense is an oddball comedy. The film focuses on a guy who starts to learn karate to defend himself after being attacked by a group of thugs. He enlists in a local DoJo run by a charismatic sensei.

SENTINELLE – 5th March

New Netflix Arrivals – SENTINELLE

I really like the sound of this one. Sentinelle stars Olga Kurylenko (Centurian, Quantum of Solace, Oblivion) and is directed by Julien Leclercq (The Assault).

We seem to have a simple revenge premise that has been used countless times. Someone comes back from the army to seek revenge on a fallen loved one. It is rare that we get a female in the lead role, so really looking forward to this one.

SHE DIES TOMORROW – 10th March

New Netflix Arrivals – She Dies Tomorrow

She Dies Tomorrow sounds like another viral outbreak movie, only with a twist. A girl believes that she is going to die the next day but we soon learn that her fear is contagious and anyone she comes into contact with also believes they’re going to die the following day.

Sounds fun.

DEALER – 10th March (Series – France)

New Netflix Arrivals – Dealer

Those of you that ain’t a fan of the found-footage genre, then you will probably wanna give this one a miss. However, if you are a fan of the hand-held shaky-cam, Dealer sounds very interesting.

The series focuses on a group of filmmakers who tread into dangerous gangland territory to make a Hip-Hop video for a rapper and end up becoming targets by the gangs.

THE SISTERS BROTHERS – 12th March

New Netflix Arrivals – The Sisters Brothers

Dark comedy western starring John C Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix. Two assassin brothers, Eli and Charlie Sisters set out to assassinate a man who stole from their boss

Based on a novel by Canadian author Patrick deWitt

PET SEMATARY – 12th March

New Netflix Arrivals – Pet Sematary

The recent remake of the classic Stephen King story. To be honest, the reviews have been pretty bad for this and that is the reason I haven’t checked it out yet. Still, it should be worth a watch on Netflix. Something to turn the brain off to.

A sequel to Pet Sematary has also just been announced.

WHO KILLED SARA? – 24th March (series)

New Netflix Arrivals – Who Killed Sara?

Described as an intense thriller, Who Killed Sara? might just be the new crime series everyone will be talking about.

After spending 17-years in prison for the murder of his sister, a man gets released with revenge on his mind. He rejoins a crime family and plots to take down the ones responsible for the murder of his sister.

That is it for this list. I hope you have been hooked up with some good future viewing. As always, thanks for reading.

Upcoming Movies You Need To Know About

We are back with a brand new list of Upcoming Movies You Should Know About. This time, for a change, we have left Asia behind (for now) and focus on English-language upcoming releases (although one or two may be partially subbed)

THE NORTHMAN

Currently getting shot in Ireland, The Northman is the new film from Robert Eggers, writer/director of The Lighthouse & The VVitch.

The Northman is a 10th Century Viking revenge saga. That’s all we know about the plot…but in fairness, do we need to know anything else?. Nope.

Starring  Anya Taylor-JoyNicole KidmanAlexander Skarsgård, Ethan Hawke, Björk & Willem Dafoe

GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE

An assassin movie directed and co-written by Big Bad Wolves director  Navot Papushado.

Gunpowder Milkshake takes places over the course of one night. It follows three assassins from three different generations who must try and stop a cycle of violence.

The film has been described as a cross between Edgar Wright’s, Baby Driver & Quentin Tarantino’s, Kill Bill.

ARMY OF THE DEAD

Zack Snyder’s long-awaited return to the zombie genre since 2004’s Romero remake of Dawn Of The Dead

In the depths of a zombie apocalypse, a group of mercenaries are hired to pull off the biggest heist in history.

The news was recently released that Snyder will also be releasing a separate zombie film which will act as a prequel to Army Of The Dead. You will hear more about that flick when more news is announced.

LAST NIGHT IN SOHO

Edgar Wright’s return to the horror genre – only this time, there ain’t any comedy.
Last Night In Soho stars  Anya Taylor-JoyMatt SmithThomasin McKenzie.
A young aspiring fashion designer somehow finds herself in 1960s London, England where she meets her idol. Things take a dark turn when she learns that 1960s London is full of shady characters and every one of her actions comes with consequences.

ANTLERS

At first look, I thought “meh”, this just sounds like a creature-feature with a killer moose (although that gets my vote too).
Antlers is a new horror directed by Scott Cooper. Cooper is responsible for some amazing thrillers and dramas including Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Out Of The Furnace & Hostiles.Set in a small isolated Oregon town, a sheriff (Jesse Plemons), a teacher (Kerri Russell) and a student must battle a legendary killer creature…with Antlers!.

THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK

The highly-anticipated origin story of Tony Soprano from HBO’s The Sopranos that deals with Tony Soprano’s life as a young gangster in New Jersey.
The Saints Of Newark stars Michael Gandolfini (James’ Son) as well as Vera FarmigaRay LiottaJon Bernthal & Corey Stoll.
Written by The Sopranos writers, Lawrence Konner and David Chase. This is going to be a great mafia origin story!.

SAMARITAN

Not a lot of information to go on regarding, Samaritan. The film stars Sylvester Stallone as a worn-out superhero
A young kid realises that the superhero who was thought to have been defeated decades ago in an epic battle may be still alive.
I have no idea if this is going to be for kids or they’re (hopefully) going to follow suit with Amazon’s The Boys.
Directed by Julius Avery, director of Nazi-zombie, Bad Robot produced Overlord

THE LITTLE THINGS

A new serial killer movie starring Rami Malek, Denzel Washington & Jared Leto.
Again, not a lot of information on this one but it is said to be about two cops that clash while hunting for a serial killer
Washington and Malek are playing the two cops which hopefully means we will see Leto in the role of the serial killer.
Written and directed by John Lee Hancock, writer/director of Netflix Original, The Highwaymen and The Rookie.

THE ASSET

A group of hackers accidentally steal millions off of a well-known crime boss. They are forced into hiding and have to train for their inevitable face-off with the crime syndicate.
Directed by Martin Campbell (The Foreigner, Casino Royale) and written by Richard Wenk (The Equaliser, The Equaliser 2)

That’s it for this list of Upcoming Movies You Need To Know About.

As always, thanks for reading.

Secret Zoo Film Review: A lighthearted comedy that definitely hit the mark

Son Jae-Gon keeps making contributions to the comedy genre (The Man Who Saw Too Much, My Scary Girl, Villain and Widow), now with a trendy but beautiful message in it; in this Globalized World, there is still people with principles who believe we can coexist with Mother Nature.

Even when it has some cliches, you can find some originality in it.

It’s based on the webtoon “I Don’t Bully You” by Hun.

The film begins with Tae-soo, who works in a temp position in a very well-known law firm; he is a bottom feeder there, of course he wants to impress his boss and the opportunity comes as the new Dongsan Park Zoo Director; he has to revitalize the failed zoo in 3 months so that the firm can make more money by selling it to another client, the problem is… there are no animals and he has no budget.

He comes up with the idea of making animal costumes for the staff to wear and fool people, until they make enough money to get their animals back.

They are not doing well until a happy accident happens, a marketing strategy in real life that helps them go viral and start having hundreds of visitors; at times it feels like they are sponsored by certain brand of carbonated drinks, still is funny how people enjoy the show, even when sometimes they are rude.

It seems it would be easy but we need a villain, in this case the Law Firm, which will become greedy and reveal their true plans.

I think by now, we all know what will happen, but is still a really fun ride to see and laugh with the characters; I would see it’s 98% family friendly because it has a few “adult jokes” but nothing outrageous.

I enjoyed the performances, cast is fantastic in their characters, very charming; the animal costumes are incredible well made, they look realistic… I think the polar bear looks more realistic than “Black Nose”, the “real” polar bear (CGI) in the movie.

If you are looking for a fun movie to enjoy, I highly recommend Secret Zoo.

Cast includes: Ahn Jae-Hong, Kang So-ra, Park Yeong-gyu, Kim Sung-oh and Jeon Yeo-been

You can watch it in Korean with subtitles in English and English SDH or dubbed in English.

Secret Zoo it’s already available on VOD and DVD.

Another K-drama that deals with the past and present. Two detectives, one from the past and one in present-day both work to bring down a serial killer.

THE GOOD DETECTIVE

The Good Detective focuses on two cops; Oh Ji Hyuk, a fresh graduate from the Korean National Police University and detective Gang Do Chang who is known for his hard work, dedication to the force and conviction records.

But with this newfound evidence, Detective Gang Do Chang who was the arresting officer must admit that he was wrong. This ignites a search for the truth to free the wrongly convicted man from death row. Detective Gang Do Chang isn’t ready to admit his errors and tries to cover his tracks.

This a brand new Netflix series that just arrived less than a week ago.

STRANGER

Stranger is more of a political drama dealing with corruption from the highest levels of power. The series focuses on prosecutor Hwang Shi Mok as he tries to bring down those responsible for a murder where a man died in a frenzied knife attack.

Our main protagonist is highly intelligent and almost void of any emotion after having an operation as a kid because he was using too much of his brain. The only problem is, he also carries the traits of a psychopath.

Colin Firth to star in a live-action adaptation of Zombie Brother

Colin Firth is set to star in New York Will Eat You Alive, an adaptation of Chinese comic, Zombie Brother.

You learn something new every day. I had no idea about Zombie Brother or that it even existed. It sounds like a serious amount of fun. The original Zombie Brother comic is insanely popular with over 28 BILLION views. There is also an Anime series that is closing in on 4 Billion Views.

So, of course, this is prime adaptation material for Hollywood. And before everyone goes “has Hollywood no originality anymore?”…well, let’s give it a chance before we all condemn it to hell.

Colin Firth is great. He has proved that he is capable of every genre that is thrown at him, be it, action, drama or comedy. So, I can’t wait to see him battle some zombies. Of course, it would be great to see an Asian live-action but who knows? maybe we will get one soon.

Official Plot (MyAnimeList)

Protagonist XiaoFei used to be an ordinary guy from H city. After the spring water was contaminated with a virus, however, he unexpectedly encountered an unprecedented crisis. The people living in H City became zombies one by one, devouring each other, and gradually evolving. Can XiaoFei escape from H city and meet up with his girlfriend Wei? The story now begins…
