We’re back with a brand new list of upcoming Japanese movies that we will see released in 2022.
We have quite a mixture of genres chosen for our new list of Japanese movies releasing in 2022, I hope you find some to add to your watchlist.
TANG
Tang is the name of a childhood robot belonging to Ken Kasugai that went missing and was never found again. Years later, Ken finds himself entirely absorbed by a game, resulting in his wife leaving him. This leaves Ken lost, with no meaning…that’s until his childhood robot buddy, Tang arrives at his front door.
Based on the novel called Robot In The Garden by Deborah Install that was first published in April 2015. It is directed by Takahiro Miki
THE VIOLENCE ACTION
Based on a hugely popular Manga, The Violence Action is a new live-action adaptation. It follows a young teen girl who leads a double life as a relentless contract killer. That’s all I know…and need to know about the plot. I am sold!. It is directed by Tôichirô Rutô and stars Kanna Hashimoto, Fumika Baba, Shunsuke Daitô
AKIRA AND AKIRA
Not a lot of information to go with this one. It follows two bankers, both called Akira. Both of them are at the top of their game in the banking business but rose to the top driven and fueled by two very approaches to what they call banking: One of them came from poverty and wants to help those in need while the other comes from a hugely successful family-owned company and is an unapologetic, unsympathetic ruthless businessman. The two Akira’s worlds will clash.
This does look to be more of drama than anything else and it sounds like a really hard-hitting one. It s based on the novel Akira to Akira.
OFFBEAT COPS
Detective Tsukasa Naruse is a cop known to bend the rules in order to get the job done. When things backfire on a phishing scam, detective Naruse finds his detective badge stripped off him and he is transferred to the police musical department.
When I first thought of the name Offbeat Cops, I thought we would have a film full of dirty cops and the yakuza. I am actually really excited to see this. It sounds quirky.
GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD
Just judging from the plot of Goodbye Cruel World, you can tell this is gonna be a crazy one. 5 random strangers meet up to pull off a bank robbery. The robbery was a success, they evaded the police…but now the Yakuza are on their tail.
At first glance, this seems like a stupid af idea but when you think about it. These folks haven’t a clue who any of the others are. I am also pretty sure that all the characters’ names in this film are just “robber 1”, “robber 2″…and so on. Seems like a cool concept tbh, so I am looking forward to this one.
