Insane Japanese Movies That Everyone Should See Part 2

INSANE JAPANESE MOVIES

INSANE JAPANESE MOVIES Funky Forest Funky Forest: The First Contact

Arguably the strangest and most insane film on the insane Japanese movies list. Funky Forest: First contact is a collection of short stories that mainly feature three characters. In total there are 21 stories told over quite a long run-time of 2.5 hrs, which might be a little much for some of you.

The film has absolutely no plot whatsoever. We have three incredibly talented directors from Japan giving you something that you’ve never seen or heard of before  – it will leave you scratching your head.

INSANE JAPANESE MOVIES ConfessionsCONFESSIONS

A film about a high-school teacher that gets revenge on a bunch of high school students she believes murdered her 4-year-old daughter. A purse that belonged to one of the students from the school was found at the scene of her death.

This film is just so damn good. I haven’t read of a single dislike towards the movie.

Another film that shines because of a very talented filmmaker and cast. When things get going, you will easily realise why so many people love Confessions.

The director’s latest film was also a masterpiece (featured in the first list), The World Of Kanako. A dark, surreal detective drama about drug-addled ex-detective who is on the hunt for his missing teenage daughter. The closer he gets to the truth, the more he finds out about his daughters dark and secret past.

INSANE JAPANESE MOVIES SmugglerSMUGGLER

A failed actor has to become an underground mover to pay back a debt to a Chinese gang. Based on a short Manga series. The fight scenes choreographed to perfection and the action never really lets up.

People are making comparisons to Takeshi Miike’s live-action Manga adaptation, Ichi The Killer (2001).

From acclaimed Japanese director Katsuhito Ishii, the director of Redline, The Taste Of Tea, Funky Forest
