Here is all the movie news from last week that you may have missed. Some info on upcoming releases like John Wick 2, Blade Runner 2, sequel for Sicario…and more.
Mr Reeves is back as hardcore, puppy-loving assassin John Wick in the sequel simply titled John Wick: Chapter 2. Here is the official plot
Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017.
I thought John Wick was one of the best mainstream action movies to have come out of Hollywood in recent years. It wasn’t groundbreaking, it had one purpose and that was to kick-ass and it didn’t pretend to be anything else, and that’s what worked so well for it – that, and Keanu Reeves is a machine!
ROBIN WRIGHT JOINS CAST FOR BLADE RUNNER 2
House Of Cards actress Robin Wright has officially joined Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi hit, Blade Runner.
Harrison Ford will reprise his role as detective Rick Deckard, I am not really certain what role Ryan Gosling or Robin Wright will play.
The script is written by Hampton Fancher who was a co-writer of the original film and Michael Green
Filming is due to begin later this year
Blade Runner 2 (not official title) will be directed bt Denis Villeneuve , the director of Sicario/Prisoners/Enemy
Which now brings me to my next bit of news
“In Mexico, Sicario means hitman”
Back to one Mr Denis Villeneuve who gave us one of the most impressive and gritty films of last year, Sicario.
Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin led the cast about the FBI and Mexican drug cartels caught in a violent and bloody drug war on the border of United States and Mexico.
Blunt and Brolin play law abiding FBI agents, Benicio Del Toro plays a shadowy figure with a dark, unknown past that gives zero fucks and follows his own rules.
The sequel is set to focus on Del Toro’s character and what happens to him after the events of the first film.
The original cast have been confirmed for the next instalment.
TIM BURTON REPLACING MICHAEL KEATON IN BEETLEJUICE SEQUEL
NO!!, NO!!!, NO!!.
I just don’t know what the fuck to think anymore in regards to the new Beetlejuice movie. Every few months there has been a glimmer of hope or basically someone just telling lies and getting everyone’s hopes up. But it looks like Keaton won’t be returning as BJ.
Apparently Burton doesn’t have the time and Keaton is enjoying being at the top of the acting food chain again with his recent performances in Birdman and Spotlight.
There is rumours that Burton has cast….hold on, I will give you one guess, his name rhymes with Ronnie Frepp. Yes folks, if the rumours are true then Burton will be casting his right-hand-man, Johnny Depp to fill the shoes of Keaton and take on the iconic role as Beetlejuice.
I just can’t imagine anyone else as Beetlejuice and these just smell like stupid rumours so I would take all the above info with a pinch of salt.
Green Room and Blue Ruin writer/director Jeremy Saulnier has his new film in the works. His first production for a major studio 20th Century Fox will be a new spy espoinage thriller called Defection.
The script will be adapted from a book called The Defection by A.J Lewinter.
Saulnier will be directing with a script written by Ken Nolan.
Saulnier’s neo-nazi gore-fest, Green Room is almost upon us and the reviews have been great across the board. A new red-band trailer is now available on YouTube but the film is so close now I think I’m going to leave it and hit the cinemas in the coming weeks, and try and leave myself some element of surprise. I have waiting on this film since May 2014, so it will be an important day for me when my ass is sitting in that theatre watching Patrick Stewart and Co tear up a punk band with stanley blades and pitt-bulls.
