New NETFLIX Crime Shows You Should Be Watching: PART ONE – Moviehooker

I am back with another list of binge-worthy Netflix crime shows you should be watching

When it comes to Netflix crime shows, we are certainly spoilt for choice. There seems to be no end to the high-quality, binge-worthy shows available to stream. I have been on one of my binges again, barely lifting my ass off the sofa until I watch an entire season.

New Netflix Crime Shows

New Netflix Crime Shows

I just finished just. I actually woke up at 6:45 am with it on my mind. The night before, I managed to get to the end of the episode before my body had enough and I had to go to bed. I opened my eyes this morning and jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs to finish it.

What can I say? this was just superb. I really wasn’t sure of it at the start as it begins a little slow. It ain’t long though until you are hooked.

A group of friends go back to their unpopulated town for a reunion. When they get there, they end up trapped with no way out. Of course, they are completely cut-off from the outside world. No internet, no phone reception.

A dark secret from the groups past come back to haunt them and a fight for survival ensues.

New Netflix Crime ShowsSEVEN SECONDS

New Netflix Crime Shows

Now, firstly, I have read a lot of mixed reviews for this series. As always, I ask you to make your own mind up as I found a lot to enjoy about Seven Seconds.

This 10-part series is a multi-layered story that pretty much tackles everything that is wrong with America. The story is centred around a cop who is accidentally involved in a hit and run. Panicked and unsure of what to do, he phones his superior at his new job as a narcotics officer.

His boss makes the choice and tells him to drive away and they cover up the crime.

I found elements and similarities to shows like The Killing, or The Wire. This ain’t a perfect series but it deals with the truthful and hurtful hardships of the black community in the U.S.

New Netflix Crime ShowsBORDERLINER

New Netflix Crime Shows

This Danish production is another win for Scandinavian crime TV. Borderliner follows a detective called Nickoli who travels to the remote countryside to spend time with his family. When he gets there, a man is found hanging in a nearby forest.  When Nickoli gets closer to the hanging corpse he soon realises that this was no suicide, it was murder.

Nickolai has no choice but to team-up with a female detective to solve the crime. As the story unfolds, Nickolai ends up on both sides of the law. He must choose between lawful justice or to protect the ones he loves.

A very strong series, with nail-biting tension, a great cast with stellar performances all-round. It was hard not for me to binge this series as I was so hooked and intrigued to see where it went.

New Netflix Crime ShowsDEEP WATER

I browsed past Deep Water quite a few times, then I caught a familiar face on the front of the cover which sold me straight away. This Ozzie serial killer series stars none other than the great Noah Taylor. As much as I love this man as an actor I couldn’t help but think that they based his character on Borat. It was my first impression, and I am pretty sure I am not the only one who made that connection.

Other than that, Deep Water is a solid series that focuses on a serial killer stalking Australias Bondi Beach targeting the gay community. A recent murder reignites an old murder dating back to 1989 when a connection is found the cops know they are dealing with a serial killer.

We have 2 detectives; one female and one male. Of course, the female cop cant lead a normal happily married life. New town, single mother…you know the rest. I find it funny that in most of these shows, male characters can manage to hold down a job, still have a wife and family. All of this while being dysfunctional af and having affairs left-right-and-centre. If you’re a female cop, then that is impossible. You must be married to your job, find it hard to have a normal, healthy reltionship etc etc,

I haven’t finished this series just yet so I am not sure how it will go. I knew it belonged here on this list when I saw that Noah Taylor starred in it.

That’s it for this list if New Netflix Crime Shows. I hope I have hooked you up with some binge-worthy material.

As always, thanks for reading.
