COLD PURSUIT: Liam Neeson Takes On A Drug Cartel With A Snowplough

Didn’t Liam Neeson recently say that he was done with action movies? Well, he’s back with COLD PURSUIT

When it comes to action movies, Northern Ireland born actor Liam Neeson has quite the resume. The only problem is, at this stage, most of anything he does is just generic tripe. The first Taken was a breath of fresh air for action fans. I was blown away with the level of action and body-count in the first instalment. Although nowhere near as violent as I would’ve liked it, Taken brought back a tiny glimpse of what was.

By the time we got to Taken 9 (I have lost count) Liam Neeson’s particular set of skills started wearing thin.  I guess he would need to go back to school and learn a new set of skills…maybe how to be a good parent and not let your daughter get kidnapped every second day.

Anyways, so what Mr Neeson’s new actioner about?

He plays Nels Coxman, a normal man who spends his days keeping the snowy roads clear with his snowplough. Things seem to be going well for Nels, and he has just won Citizen Of The Year in his hometown. But things are about to change for the worse. After losing his son in a drug-related incident he becomes hellbent on taking down the drug cartel responsible.

Within 20 seconds of the trailer, I realised that Cold Pursuit is a remake of a fantastic Norwegian black comedy starring Stellen Skarsgard and Bruno Ganz called In order Of Disappearance. If you haven’t checked out the original then please do, it is such a great black comedy…and pretty damn violent too.

I have been looking forward to seeing Liam Neeson do some black comedy since his sketch with Ricky Gervais in Life’s Too ShortCold Pursuit looks to be a worthy remake with Neeson’s deadpan acting fitted perfectly to the role. I am really looking forward to this.

Cold Pursuit

Here’s the trailer. Hope you enjoy.

Cold Pursuit stars Liam Neeson, Laura Dern, Tom Bateman and Emmy Rossum. It is due for release February 2019.

As always, thanks for reading.
