New To Netflix: INTO THE NIGHT (Review)

Into The Night Netflix series

A new Belgian apocalyptic sci-fi series called Into The Night has just dropped on Netflix – this also marks Netflix’s first original Belgian TV show

What Is Into The Night About?

Based on Polish sci-fi author Jacek Dukaj‚Äôs best-selling short novella The Old Axolotl,  Into The Night opens with what we think is a terrorist attack and hijacking of a Belgian airline destined for Moscow.

Not long after takeoff, the supposed terrorist reveals that he is trying to save lives, not take them. The sun has had enough of our shit.

If you come into any sort of contact, you will go up in flames or get burnt from the inside out. The plane must now fly west and keep to the darkness of the night to prevent everyone from turning into sun food. So, while it may look like the sun is the bad guy in this series, us humans are most definitely the bad guys with the sun acting as the hero sent in to extinguish and remove us from the world we helped destroy.

The great thing about Into The Night is the characters.

They throw multiple religions and beliefs ontop of each other. The message is there, and clear as day. It doesn’t matter what God you believe in, none of them is answering any their prayers.

The series is well-easy to get through in one sitting. In fact, in my opinion, it wasn’t long enough. It is a 6-part first season with each episode roughly around 30-minutes. Nonetheless, Into The Night is a gripping and well-acted binge-worthy Netflix entry.

Into The Night was created and written by Narcos producer, Jason George. I hope you all enjoy.

Into The Night will also feature in a new Netflix list I will be writing soon. A lot of great stuff has dropped.

As always, thanks for reading.
