Blade Runner is held as one of the finest sci-fi films ever released. The film has gained such a cult following since it’s release in the 80’s that the news of a sequel was met with mixed reactions from the fans.

The fans are right, it has been so long since the release of the original, and sequels in general are usually a bad idea.

In an industry full of remakes, reboots, prequels, and sequels you can’t blame everyone for thinking this is a bad idea.

But Blade Runner 2 is happening and they have the right cast on-board and a fine visionary director to bring it to life. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, Ryan Gosling will also star (his role has not yet been revealed).

Director of Enemy, Prisoners, and upcoming thriller Sicario, Denis Villeneuve, is set to direct. The film will take place years after the events of the first film.

More updates on Blade Runner 3 to follow as it’s announced
