I will be making another one of my popular Top Ten Foreign Thrillers lists over the next week or so. Here is the first 3 movies, it wasn’t intentional but looks like part 1 is a Japanese Special, sure there is nothing wrong with that.
1: The Snow White Murder Case
New murder mystery from Japan that’s based on a best selling novel of the same name. The Snow White Murder Case is directed by Dark Water (original Japanese movie from 2002) writer Yoshihiro Nakamura.
The film is about employees at a cosmetic company who become suspects in a murder case when the leading lady of their product line ‘Snow White’ was found brutally stabbed and burnt in a nearby park.
What I have read about this film has been really, REALLY good. Every review is stating that this is a brilliantly written crime thriller, intelligent and beautifully structured, and full of clever, unpredictable twists and turns.

2: The World Of Kanako
This is another one Japan, a new revenge thriller from the director of cult classic Confessions about a detective who is searching for his missing and girl gets drawn into some sort of seedy underground world.
The reviews I have read for this one has been mostly good. There was the one person who give it a 1/10, but I say this on many occasions, ‘some of those dudes be smoking the crack’. One thing I am certain of is that it’s gonna be a really twisted film and very disturbing. This will be an acquired taste, I am certain of it. I know this because there was a serious shit-storm involved when it was released and they had to release a statement regarding content in the film….if the Japanese made them release a statement, Holy Mother Of God, it must be seriously sick.
I also think that the bad reviews that this film has received is just from people who can’t handle their movies nice and hardcore like we can.
Drafthouse Films has picked up the rights and the film will be have a Theatrical (not UK and Ireland) and VOD release in the near future

3: Assassination Classroom
New live-action Manga adaptation, this makes the list because it just sounds absolutely bonkers. You got to hand to it to the Japanese, when it comes to craziness in film, no one can ever come close.

A powerful creature claims that within a year, Earth will be destroyed by him, but he offers mankind a chance by becoming a homeroom teacher where he teaches his students about how to kill him. An assassination classroom begin.
