Based on a crime novel by Jussi Henry Adler-Olsen, The Keeper Of Lost Causes was adapted for the screen by Nikolaj Arcel, the screenwriter for the original, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. This gritty Danish thriller is directed by Mikkel Nørgaard, the director of Danish hit comedy Klown.
The first three films in this list act as sort of a trilogy. We have the same returning characters but just different cases.
We all know the calibre of writing that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo had, it was a fantastic film. The Keeper Of Lost Causes has received solid reviews and just like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, this film is dark and quite disturbing.

THE ABSENT ONE
Country: Denmark

Jussi Henry Adler-Olsen seems to be the man with the brains behind a lot of the fantastic Danish noir movies getting released. Again, this film was adapted from one of his novels, and again we have the same talented scriptwriter and director to bring this to life for the big screen.
The second instalment that continues with the same cops from the first film, The Keeper Of Lost Causes. Although this movie is a new case, there is a lot of flashbacks, so it might be worth your while to check out the first film before you tackle this one.
Multiple reviews also state that this film is very graphic and not for the fainthearted

The murder of young twins initially implicates a group of upper-class students as the killers, though the case takes a turn or two from its starting point.
