New Horror Series’ Coming To Netflix In 2022

Our first list of 2022 is here! In this list, we focus on some upcoming horror series’ arriving this year on Netflix. We hope you enjoy it!

2022 is going to be a fantastic year for horror. Below you’ll find some of the gems we got coming. Be it, zombies, ghosts, cults or killer gameshows, Moviehooker has you covered!

ALL OF US ARE DEAD

One of our highly anticipated series’ of 2022, a new South Korean zombie series. Based on a webtoon (like almost everything these days) All of us Are Dead traps a load of school students inside their school during a zombie outbreak.

I won’t say too much, but don’t expect a simple, straightforward zombie apocalypse. South Korea have ways to twist the genres, adding in unique infections or giving us a whole new kind of zombie plague.

ALICE IN BORDERLAND SEASON 2

I am so happy that Squid Game really pushed this fantastic series into the spotlight again. Alice in Borderland follows a group of people who are transported into a parallel dystopian wasteland. They must complete a series of tasks while at the same time being hunted by masked murderers.

Reminds me a lot of Cube!.

ARCHIVE 81

This may not be for everyone but, for us, it’s a must-watch. We have reported about Archive 81 before as one to look forward to.

It follows a videotape archivist who is tasked with putting some old footage together. What he finds is disturbing footage of what looks like an occult committing horrible crimes. He becomes obsessed and gets thrown into the dark and sinister world of this secret cult.

Archive 81 is loosely based on a podcast. The series is produced by James Wan and is co-directed by my two main men, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

ARMY OF THE DEAD: LOST VEGAS

The next instalment of Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead franchise will arrive this year. This animated series will act as a prequel to the beautiful shitstorm we got treated to. It takes place at the beginning of the zombie-alien-robot outbreak!

The cast includes Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Tig Notaro, Christian Slater, Omari Hardwick, Joe Manganiello, Vanessa Hudgens

MIDNIGHT CLUB

Mike Flanagan is 100% certified Netflix Gold with the fantastic Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House.

The Midnight Club focuses on a group of terminally ill children who get together at the home they are staying at to share some tales of dread.

Looks, like each episode, will tell a different tale based on the stories of the sick children.

THE WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN

To be honest, the last season didn’t do it for me. But hey, each to their own, right?. The Witcher series has so much quality content. Expect to see a lot more spin-offs, prequels, sequels and origin projects.

Witcher: Blood Origin is set 1200 years before the Henry Cavill series. It will tell the story of how the very first Witcher was created.

Starring, Michelle Yeoh, Laurence O’Fuarain & Jacob Collins-Levy.

RESIDENT EVIL – LIVE-ACTION SERIES

I had a glimmer of hope for the New Raccoon City film but apart from some cool looking zombies, it was sadly a nope from me. Now, there were moments in the new movie I admired like how they tried to stay true to the games but the script lacked depth and meaning. You didn’t care too much for the characters. Still, not the worst and still worth a watch.

Netflix has not given up and this new series will be the first live-action. I think of a tonne of stories that would be some great Resident Evil episodes; the house with the hillbillies or my personal favourite, the African slums.

I have always had a love for that African slum setting and a zombie outbreak. To my knowledge, there’s been two movies in that setting: The Dead and the first African zombie film Ojuju. Both flicks are really enjoyable but Resident Evil has so much quality untapped material…it’s scary. Unlike the movies.

THE SANDMAN

Based on Neil Gaiman’s insanely popular graphic novels. The Sandman was first published in the late 80s by DC Vertigo. Years, later Joseph Gordon-Levitt was attached to star in a movie adaptation but that died in 2016. Now, nearly 7-years later, Netflix has entered the building for a series.

It follows a character called Dream (of the Endless) who has been accidently imprisoned for decades by a wizard looking for eternal life. Now free, he sets off to find his lost equipment, clashing with Lucifer and other dark characters.

Because The Sandman is from DC Vertigo, the new Netflix series could feature a certain demon slayer by the name of Constantine.

FIRST KILL

Not too sure about First Kill. This may be one for the kiddos but who knows? time will tell. The series focuses on a young teenage vampire called Juilette. In order for her to be initiated into the cool vampire gang, she must make her First Kill. The girl she chooses is called Calliope who has just moved into her town. But what Jullete doesn’t know is that Calliope is also a vampire slayer and what seemed like an easy First Kill now gets complicated.

That’s it for this list, folks! We hope we’ve hooked you up with some fine future viewing. As always, thanks for reading.
