Need a new movie to start the weekend? Netflix horror BIRD BOX arrives today
There has been a lot of hype surrounding Sandra Bullock’s new Netflix horror movie BIRD BOX. What intrigues me the most is that we have Sandra Bullock in a leading role which throws her out of her Miss Congeniality comfort zone. Judging by the trailer, it looks that she is going to give a performance people will be talking about. I always love to see an actor or actress step away from the movies he/she would be associated with and attempt a more serious approach to acting.
So What Is BIRD BOX About?
If you haven’t already checked the trailer then I advise you to just leave it and go and check the film on Netflix. I am a crackhead for trailers and unfortunately, the trailer for Bird Box gives away a hell of a lot of the plot and what looks to be some pretty important scenes.
An unknown epidemic has spread worldwide infecting people through sight. Each person that is infected is confronted with their worst fears imaginable until that fear consumes their entire being and they violently kill themselves.
When the infection has spread and the main storyline sets in, it does seem like it’s going to take a familiar path: The apocalyptic survival path. The usual story about a group of survivors going against the odds and trying to make it to a safe zone – but in Bird Box the survivors are blindfolded. That’s an interesting twist on a familiar concept.
There is an obvious inspiration here from John Krasinki’s impressive sci-fi horror, A Quiet Place. A Quiet Place created so much tension that was built on silence. Bird Box gives us a similar story only they replace sound with sight.
Bird Box is now available on Netflix to stream.
