I will start this crazy Japanese movies list with one of the craziest directors to have ever come out of Japan.
WHY DON’T YOU PLAY IN HELL?
I can see a pattern starting to form. Most of the movies on this list are either from Takeshi Miike or Sono Sion. Both of these guys are masters of their art, and it would be impossible not to have them featured on this list of insane films when no one does insane better.
Why Don’t You Play In Hell follows a film crew who have been trying for years to get that big break. When a Yakuza boss calls on them to help make a movie about his daughter’s wedding, the crew get tangled up in a feud between the Yakuza gang they are filming, and also a rival Yakuza gang.
Again from Sono Sion, not only is this guy one of the best filmmakers in Asia but I would consider him to be one the best filmmakers currently working in the industry.
ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM
This film is all kinds of crazy. I thought it would be best if I just shared the official plot with you all.
A sequel to the film will be released later this year and will be playing at Fantasia Film Festival. The hugely anticipated sequel will be titled Assassination Classroom: Graduation. It looks to be just as insane as the first instalment

The Earth’s moon is suddenly 70% smaller and permanently crescent-shaped by a devastating and unknown force. For the students of E Class, Kunugigaoka Junior High School, the being responsible is known, as their teacher. The strange and very supportive entity has given the Japanese government a challenge to save the Earth from destruction. It wants to be the teacher of the class with the lowest expectations for success, in anything. The students, armed with special weapons that only harm their teacher, must find a way to kill him before the end of the school year. If not, summer break will be cancelled by the end of the world.
