Bruce Campbell may have hung up his chainsaw & Boomstick and said his goodbyes to Ashley J Williams but he is far from done with the Evil Dead franchise and will now serve as producer.

UPDATED: WE NOW HAVE THE OFFICIAL TRAILER –

In an interview with Empire, Bruce Campbell spilt the beans on the future of Evil Dead

“From this point forward, they kind of have to stand on their own. Which is fine. And liberating. We just want to keep the series current. And the mantra, really, is that our heroes and heroines are just regular people. That’s what we’re going to continue.”

It will be called Evil Dead Rise, and Rami has hand-picked Irish writer/director Lee Cronin to write and direct the next instalment of our beloved franchise. Rami was impressed by Cronin’s directorial debut and Sundance hit, Hole In The Ground…so yeah, this is pretty exciting.

I really think Fede Alvarez captured the dark elements of Evil Dead with his remake. However, I do think that the tagline “the most terrifying movie you will ever experience” hyped it up way too much for me. That, it was not, but, man, we got treated to a nasty and vicious remake. We just had no comedy…and you know something? I am more than ok with that. Bring on the bleakness!

UPDATED

Great news for all of us Deadite fans, Evil Dead Rise has been confirmed to start filming this summer in New Zealand. Bruce Campbell revealed in an interview with Knox News that the new Evil Dead is on its way. And apart from Ash in MedEvil times, the horror will take place away from the woods and the iconic demon-dwelling cabin.

Planning to shoot the next Evil Dead movie in New Zealand later this year, It’s set in a modern-day urban setting. It’s out of the woods.”

UPDATED 26/05/21

Variety has reported that the new Eil Dead sequel, Evil Dead Rise will stream exclusively on HBO Max. It will also be released on Canal + in the U.K & on Metropolitan in France. As for a release date, well we still don’t know. We may get to witness the new chapter before the end of the year! yay!.

We now know that the new instalment will take part in a city, away from the iconic woods setting. It will focus on two estranged sisters (played by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan) planning a reunion. They probably end up getting drunk, find an old book and decide to read each other some stories from it. DEADITES EVERYWHERE!

Here is a fun fact: I interviewed Deathgasm and Guns Akimbo director Jason Lei Howden and he told me that a lot of the body parts used in Deathgasm were actually recycled body parts from Fede Alvarez’s 2013 Evil Dead remake.
