INVOKING YELL: Metal + Found Footage? Bring it!

Ok metal fans, are you ready for a new found footage heavy metal horror? well, Moviehooker is delighted to be hooking you up with Invoking Yell

It is a rarity for metal fans to get a film combining both music and horror – I mean, there should be way more – the two go together so well. Trick Or Treat was my first venture into horror where metal music played a huge part in the story.

Many years later, we got the fabulous Deathgasm, Jason Lei Howden’s New Zealand super splatter-fest. With Deathgasm, not only did we get a metal-infused horror, Howden knew his music and this transcended onto screen so well. As well as a seriously funny horror comedy, we also got one hell of a badass soundtrack. And, I hope you’re all ready for the upcoming Deathgasm 2: Goremegeddon

This brings me to Invoking Yell which at first glance really gave me the Deathgasm vibes. There is a slight difference though – Invoking Yell is no comedy. This is about an all female band in Chile who trek deep into a haunted forest to capture the spirit sounds for their final track of their black metal album but unknowingly unleash powerful dark forces.

INVOKING YELL – OFFICIAL PLOT

Synopsis: Set in 1997 south of Chile, INVOKING YELL is a love letter to black metal that follows a trio of metalhead twenty-something girls who venture into the woods to shoot the demo tape for their black metal band, Invoking Yell. However, things take a sinister turn as they document their disturbing and unorthodox process of recording paranormal phenomena to be used in the album’s final track.
