Traumatika: FrightFest Brings A Nightmarish Vision from Two Witches director

More information on the awesome titles playing at this year’s FrightFest. Next up is TRAUMATIKA, the next chapter in nightmarish terror from the director of Two Witches

I’ve said it many times before, sometimes all you need to sell me on a movie is just some beautiful poster design, and, oh boy, we sure have that with Traumatika!

A clever spin on the serial killer sub genre that delves into the brutal abuse and harsh realities of a soon-to-be killer and those you fall victim to his merciless ways as a result of his cruel, abusive upbringing.

FrightFest will be holding the world premiere which will be taking place on Saturday August 24th at 6:15PM – Main Screen at Odeon Luxe Leicester.

Here’s the official plot

A young boy’s night terrors become reality when his mother begins showing signs of demonic possession. What he’s about to experience will haunt him for the rest of his life and claim countless lives across generations.

Are some people naturally born evil or is evil a result of someone’s life experience? Were famous serial killers bound to be what they have become?

This is a fundamental question that humans have been trying to answer for centuries. The idea with Mommy Monster was to tackle the subject in a very unorthodox, unusual, and conceptual way to dive into the traumatic memories of a child who has become a serial killer.

It is undeniable that childhood trauma plays a significant role in adult criminals. Traumatika is a very sensory film that tackles the very primal fears of childhood and the abuse that sadly, a lot of us have experienced in our early lives. This movie is a nightmarish experience that could maybe raise more questions that it gives answers. As a filmmaker, I wanted to portray the evil that Mikey experiences through his own eyes, making his abuse characterized by the vision of a devilish figure that embodies real life abusers.

Traumatika blends elements of demonic possession with those of the slasher genre. As a horror fan, I tried to merge these sub genres to create a fresh and innovative concept. In traumatika, the supernatural evil serves as a metaphor for trauma. The idea behind the film was to portray childhood trauma as a possible origin of evil.
