Info on Army of the Dead sequel, prequel & series!

Army of the Dead was most definitely met with mixed reviews. Some loved it, some loathed it, some laughed at it, some screamed at anger at the screen. Me, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

It wasn’t the tense ride I hoped for, an intensity that he got so right with 2004’s Dawn Of The Dead remake. Still, with all its unexplained story sidelines, and character cliches, zombie robots & aliens, I thought it was a tremendous amount of fun. No one can deny the fact that AOTD has some amazing gore, great looking zombies and even better zombie kills.

If you remember what I said some while back about the connection between Dawn and Army. I wrote that they were once connected but by officially cutting ties with the Romero zombie universe, Snyder and the big-wigs @ Netflix can sit back and just count those wads of cash.

However, there was a clever easter egg in Army of the Dead that connected both films. If you blink, you’ll miss it but there’s a news story we see on a mobile phone that talks about the 04 outbreak in Milwaukee. As you know, Dawn Of the Dead was relased in 04. Check out the image below

We also reported in an article a few months back that we will get much more zombie mayhem than just Army Of The Dead. A movie was in the works, and also a series too!. And, man, do Snyder and Netflix mean business!

The next instalment is already is on its way – with our safe-cracker, Dieter, gettling his own spin-off movie, Army of Thieves.

Army of Thieves is a prequel to Army of The Dead and takes place years before the events of the first film (6 years I think). Dieter is once again recruited for his safe-cracking talents. He joins a new group to crack safes across Europe while the rest of the world is blinded by the impending zombie apocalypse.

Snyder takes a step back to and serves as producer for Army of Thieves.

Matthias Schweighöfer, who play’s Dieter is the man in the director’s chair. Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee & Stuart Martin co-star.

Army of the Dead 2 has also been announced!

Surprised? of course, you’re not! Snyder and Netflix have officially announced that a sequel is in the works. It’s still early days yet so obviously there are no plot details available.

You’d probably have a brain aneurysm if you try and think of all the possible directions an Army of the Dead sequel could take. I mean, there’s SO much left unexplained. It could spread to Mexico or we could see aliens starting to invade earth, deploying deadly zombie robots to destroy mankind. It is impossible to say and I guess that’s a good thing.

Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas (animated Netflix series)

As well as 3 movies, Netflix has also ordered a 6-part animated series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas. This has to be some sort of record. It really looks like Netflix is Nicolas Cage and Snyder is any director ever and Netflix is just jumping at any movie he throws at them. In all seriousness though, Snyder is much better with Netflix than he ever was with Warner Bros.

As well as Ella Purnell, Dave Bautista, Tig Notaro and more of the original cast from AOTD, Lost Vegas adds Christain Slater, Vanessa Hudgens and Joe Manganiello among many others. The series will take part during the zombie outbreak. We will see all of the characters reprise their roles in anime form & fight hordes of the undead and lose loved ones.

Zack Snyder is reported to be directing two episodes of the upcoming 6-part series. I am not 100% but it looks like Jay Oliva is doing the other 4 episodes. Oliva is a much-sought-after storyboard artist and illustrator. He also directed the animated Batman, The Dark Knight Returns.

I have a funny feeling I will be updating this article. I think all of the above-mentioned are just the beginning. Just you all wait and see. As always, thanks for reading.
