Hooking You All Up With Takashi Miike’s new serial killer horror LUMBERJACK MONSTER
That’s right, folks, visionary Japanese director and master of weird Takashi Mike (Ichi The Killer, Gozu, Visitor Q, The Happiness Of The Katikuri’s) has a new serial killer film on the way called Lumberjack The Monster and it sounds so good.
A serial killer uses a book called “Kaibutsu no Kikor” as influence for the murders he commits. The killer wears a lumberjack monster mask (whatever that is) – his weapon of murderous choice is an axe. His method of killing is to smash your head open and remove your brains (nice). He then sets his sights on his next victim, a lawyer called Akira Ninomiya. But what the killer doesn’t know is that Akira is unlike any other lawyer. Not only is he ruthless and heartless, but he also carries the traits of a psychopath. Akjira is then pushed to the point of breaking which leads to a psychopathic awakening. Other characters then get dragged into their world; Akira’s fiancé, a doctor and a criminal profiler. They are given a task that they need to solve: why does the serial killer take people’s brains and what is he doing with them?
With Miike movies, you never know what you’re going to get and that’s the great thing. It could be bleak, serious and as dark as the night or it could have elements of weird comedy. One thing is for sure, it will carry the Takashi Miike signature and you will know that you’re watching a master at work on his dark and depraved craft.
