Fan of The Boys? – Check out Robert Kirkman’s Invincible on Amazon Prime

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is back with Invincible, a new ultra-violent animated series on Amazon Prime – and it’s damn good!

Invincible tells the story of Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) a seemingly normal teenager and son of Omni-Man, an extraterrestrial superhero with Earth-shattering powers. Eventually, Mark will inherit his father’s abilities and join him in fighting crime and laser-beaming people in half. He starts to realise, that his father, the most powerful being on the planet isn’t the hero everyone thinks he is. He might just be just like a version of Homelander -only with a Tom Selleck moustache (That’s a fantastic combination). Heads will roll. Guts will spill.

Omni-Man

And, man, what a fantastic cast. We have Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Mark Hamill, Zachary Quinto, Seth Rogen, Clancy Brown, Walton Goggins and loads more.

And Amazon Prime caught me again. I thought I was sitting down to the full first season. Nope. There were only three episodes which left me with a thirst for more. Thanks for that Amazon. So now the wait begins for episode 4. I can’t wait. I am really enjoying it.

Invincible first appeared in an issue of Savage Dragon in 2002. It then got its own series and was published in 2003. It ended in 2017 after 144 issues.

If you fancy yourself some adult animation and beautiful gratuitous ultra-violence then stop what you’re doing and go and check out Robert Kirkman’s Invincible on Amazon Prime Video.

How long until the news is announced that we will get a live-action version or spin-off movie? I’ll give it one month.

Season one consists of 8-episodes. Only 3 episodes have been released so far. It’s up to you, check it out now and wait weekly or starve yourself so you can binge it in its entirety. Either way, I hope you enjoy it.

As always, thanks for reading.

New R-Rated Animated Series Based On Alien: Isolation Arriving Soon

Amanda Ripley’s story to be told in a new r-rated animated Alien series based on best selling game Alien: Isolation

Man, it seems that Alien has been in the news a lot lately. News of Neill Blomkamp and Ridley Scott collaborating on a new film has got people excited…and so it should. Neill Blomkamp and Ridley Scott hooking up for an Alien movie can only mean great things, can’t it?.

News also dropped that we’re going to be getting, not one, but two live-action series’ based in the Alien universe. One of which will be produced by Scott-Free Productions and will be exclusively for streaming service Hulu. News on the second live-action series is still unknown but as soon as I know, I will make sure to keep you all updated.

Now, it looks like have another new series based on the best selling game Alien: Isolation on its way…and if the info I am reading is correct, we could be getting the first episode as early as April. As of now, there doesn’t seem to be any platform and the series will be released on the official website for the Alien: Isolation game. It is reported we will get one episode per month. The first series will consist of seven episodes.

Let’s just pray that all of this news is good news.

We have so many unanswered questions and endless possibilities to explore in the Alien universe. It won’t be long before Disney get their covetous, greedy hands on the franchise and Fox and Disney become an uncontrollable, unquenchable bottomless money pit.

We have been reassured time and time again that we have nothing to worry about – we will still get r-rated content, even with the two companies merging together. Let’s hope we don’t have to release the face-huggers @ Disney HQ.

More news to follow as it’s announced. As always, thanks for reading.

New Animated Batman Movie, The Killing Joke Is Hitting Select Cinemas

Batman: The Killing Joke is arguably the most popular Batman story out there. It’s a fan favourite and (some) people are now gonna get the chance to see the new animated film in select cinemas.

batman.pngPersonally, I have always enjoyed the DC movies as I find them a little darker than the films in the Marvel universe – although the Superman movies weren’t that great , I still enjoyed most of the Batman movies

One of the best Batman stories is now an animated film that will get a limited theatrical release…as for us in Ireland, or folk in the U.K – I think can we can all dream.

Here is part of the official press-release , courtesy of newsarama

10 upcoming S.Korean Dramas/Thrillers To Watch Out For Part 2

Part 2 of my 10 upcoming S.Korean dramas/thriller to watch out for.

For part 1 Click Here.

Hope you enjoy.

angry painterAngry Painter

The film follows two guys called Painter and Driver.  I am not sure if they are cops or are just out for revenge. They spend their days dealing with scum and they are in pursuit of an evil murderer, or a serial killer.

When they meet an Estonian girl, some flirting starts to happen it sparks some jealousy from an off-duty American soldier, and things don’t end too pretty.

The film was shot in both S.Korea and Estonia. More to follow on this film as it is announced.

dog eat dogDog Eat Dog

The film focuses on two gang members, these guys are known as “dogs”. They target Koreans who are on holiday abroad, kidnap them and kill them without any guilt or remorse.

When one of them is thrown out of the gang, he then goes rogue and decides to kidnap someone by himself for his own sadistic pleasure. The mother of the person he’s kidnapped tracks down the gang he used to be with to find out where her son is and get him back.

man on heelsMan On High Heels

The vibe that I am getting from this film is that it is not suited for everyone. Chances are though, if you’re here reading about new South Korean movies then you probably like your films a little bit different.

The film revolves around a detective called Yoon Ji-wook. The man is an absolute legendary cop and is hugely respected by the force. He is also feared by the criminal underworld and known for brutal and relentless take-downs of criminal gangs

Yoon Ji-wook has a secret though, he has wanted to be a woman since he has been a teenager but is frightened to do or say anything because of his reputation.

But before he can do anything, a gang that Yoon Ji-wook took down is back, and closing in. They will stop at nothing until Yoon Ji-wook is dead…he will stop at nothing to become a woman.

Seoul_Station-608120820-largeSeoul Station

This is a film that I have been keeping a close eye on. The film is going to be in 2-parts, and is animated…but don’t let that put you off – Seoul Station sounds like a really good thriller/horror

The story of a viral outbreak that starts with a homeless man in the tunnels of Seoul Train Station and starts to rapidly spread through the city

The first part will deal with the infection and quarantine. The second part (pretty sure it will be called Busan Bound) will be about a train full of infected, flesh-eating zombie passengers on route to Busan.

Really looking forward to this..hopefully, there is not much of a wait for the second part.
