We have learnt some new information about HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us.
Ok superfans…brace yourself because we are about to enter a world of change.
Here’s what Druckmann said in an interview with IGN about what we should expect from the first season of the new HBO series
“the philosophical underpinnings of the story will be similar to what Joel and Ellie go through in the 2013 game. But as far as the superficial things, like should a character wear the same plaid shirt or the same red shirt? They might or might not appear in it, that’s way less important to us than getting the core of who these people are and the core of their journey.

In the game, you have to train the player about mechanics. You have to have more violence and more spectacle to some degree than you would need on a TV show because you don’t need to train people on how to use a gun. So that’s something that’s been really different, and HBO’s been great in pushing us to move away from hardcore action and focus more on the drama of the character. Some of my favourite episodes so far have deviated greatly from the story, and I can’t wait for people to see them.”
I am sure whatever direction they’re going to go is going to be amazing. You only have to look at who’s involved in the series to know that. I could’ve done without hearing they’re steering away from the action though.
The game itself isn’t really that action-packed anyway. Yes, it certainly has its moments but it is way more stealthy. Most of the action comes from the different characters we meet along the way. I am sure that just like in the game when action is required, we will not be disappointed.

When Pedro Pascal was cast as Joel it was met with some mixed feelings. I even saw a hashtag from people that really made me chuckle: #NotMyJoel. HA, really?. Was I expecting Pascal to get cast?. No. Did I cry like a big baby? Also no!. Yeah, to me and millions of others, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau seemed like a perfect fitting for the role of Joel but I can’t wait to see what Pascal brings to the table. The man is a terrific actor, highly sought after and has been killing it lately.
What it all boils down to was that people were (are) getting pissed off at the casting of a CGI character. The man doesn’t even exist, he is a computer-generated image lol but still…#NotMyJoel. Humans baffle me sometimes.
