Trailer For Robert Rodriguez’s Manga Adaptation ALITA BATTLE ANGEL

The trailer has arrived for James Cameron produced sci-fi ALITA BATTLE ANGEL

Directed by Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn, Sin City), Alita is the next wave in sci-fi, A.I  themed films.

Alita stars: Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Michelle Rodriguez, Eiza González, and Rosa Salazar (as Alita).

The trailer really does look visually astounding. Christoph Waltz plays a Doctor who finds cyborg remains when out scavaging in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. From these parts, Alita is born. With untapped super-being abilities, Alita has to choose her own path, will she choose to help? or will she choose to destroy mankind?.

The film is based on a manga series by Yukito Kishiro called Battle Angel Alita. According to Wiki, Alita was first brought to James Cameron’s attention by none other than Mr. Guillermo Del Toro. This film has been in the making for a long time.

Do I think it looks good?

I think it does, Imagine her looking at you with those big Anime eyes, it’s a little unsettling. It looks imaginative and inventive and from the trailer, a little bit dark as well.

I am aware that this is a Hollywood remake and might not be as dark as the original material but I think it looks promising. Like most Hollywood adaptations, this will probably piss a lot of the fans of the original off. I’ve nothing to base this on, so to me, it looks like a lot of fun. I will wait until I see it, then check out the original Manga.

Now that is a beautiful pic

I also love Rodriguez, the man has an artistic vision, and has proved that point time-and-time again. I am sure he will be trying to stay as close to the original material as possible.

As well as Alita being a total bad-ass, there also looks to be some other really inventive looking robots. Some of which have some very obvious, yet awesome bladed weaponry attached.

The trailer also screams that this has multiple-sequel potential. I’m thinking we are about to see the birth of a whole franchise.

More to follow as it’s announced.

As always, thanks for reading. Enjoy the trailer
