THE BEST KOREAN TV SHOWS ON NETFLIX UK/IRELAND PART 1

The first list of 2024, I couldn’t think of a better bit of content than the best Korean TV shows on Netflix.

Netflix are reigning champions of Korean content in the UK/Ireland…and, possibly, everywhere. Below you will find a list of some of the best Korean TV shows that you can stream on Netflix UK/Ireland. A lot of these are Netflix Originals so will be available everywhere. Stay tuned for Part 2! Let’s get to it.

THE GLORY

One of the finest revenge dramas in existence. This is some hard-hitting drama and deals with a subject that sadly happens a lot to young South Korean high school students.

It focuses on a young student who goes through unspeakable torture and bullying by a group of evil bitch high-schoolers. She is tortured so much that, she makes it her life purpose to get revenge on those who tormented her…no matter how many years it will take.

BEYOND EVIL

The first thing I noticed about Beyond Evil was its similarities to Bong Joon-ho’s phenomenal Song Kang-ho starring serial killer drama Memories of Murder.

Beyond Evil is not only one of the best Korean TV shows on Netflix, but it is one of the best crime shows there is anywhere in the world. It follows two men as they try and bring down a serial killer who has evaded capture for decades. I don’t know how many times I thought I had this one figured out but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The reveals in this are jaw-dropping, very well written, completely unexpected and beautifully executed.

NARCO SAINTS

Narco Saints tells the story of an ordinary man who is forced to help the NIS in bringing down a drug lord who has taken control of Suriname. This one is a limited series and only has 6 episodes. You know what that means, right? you can binge them all in one sitting.

The production value of Narco Saints is just insane. It is really good to see their action sequences take place in a different part of the world.

MY NAME

My Name was certainly one of the best Korean TV shows to hit Netflix in the last few years. The best way I could describe it is that it’s like the TV version of Infernal Affairs (remade as The Departed). A woman goes undercover to find out the men responsible for her father’s murder.

MOVE TO HEAVEN

Move To Heaven tells the story of a young man with Asperger’s who works with his father and follows his strict routine as a trauma cleaner: someone who cleans the place where someone has died. When the father unexpectedly dies it throws his life into unprecedented chaos. The father’s brother then steps in to try and understand Asperger’s and take on the role of a fatherly figure and a new job as a trauma cleaner.

This is one hell of a touching series. Listen, if you do not shed a tear at some part of this series, then you’re simply heartless and made of stone!

GYEONGSEONG CREATURE

We’re still getting weekly episodes of this fantastic new K Horror series. A group of Japanese soldiers perform medical experiments on Korean prisoners. One of these experiments causes severe mutations in a woman and she mutates into a huge creature and absolute killing machine.

BLOODHOUNDS

Two ex-marines turned boxing rivals quickly form a unique strong friendship. When one of their mother’s cafes gets destroyed due to her signing a dodgy loan from a notorious loan shark. The two then take on a job as security working for ex-loan shark Mr Choi’s granddaughter.

The action, especially the boxing element of this was so damn good. The slaps were swift, combo-coordinated and powerhouse powerful.

KINGDOM

A dying king is treated by a flower with dark powers. The king returns as a creature and immediately infects one of the royal staff. This is the first of the plague-like zombie virus that will ravage through Joeson period South Korea

One of the most successful Korean Netflix series’. There are two seasons on Netflix and we’re impatiently waiting on Season 3.

HAPPINESS

A virus has started rapidly spreading through South Korea. Those infected with this virus turn into flesh-eating zombies. The shortly after their crazed attacks they turn back into humans, not remembering anything of their zombie-like state

ALL OF US ARE DEAD

Another Korean zombie series (we just can’t get enough). Based on a popular webtoon All Of Us Are Dead follows a group of high schoolers who must battle to survive when their high school becomes ground zero for a highly contagious zombie outbreak.

I thought we were going to get the 2nd season this January but unfortunately, the info I got was wrong. It will start filming sometime this year, and I will make to sure to keep you all up to date
