New Lord of The Rings Prequel In The Works at warner bros & New Line Cinema

Great news, we are getting more Lord of the Rings. As well as the new series currently in production for Amazon, we will be getting an animated film that will take place before the events of the first film

A joint collaboration from New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers. The new prequel has officially been titled  “The War of the Rohirrim”. It is to be set 250 years before the events of Fellowship of the Ring. The story will follow Helm Hammerhand.

It has been so long since I have watched any of the films so I have no idea who he is. But, if you’re a Tolkien fan or Lord Of The Ring crackhead cinephile, then he is no stranger. His backstory is epic and will tell the tale of how Helm’s Deep became the firey pit of burning Hell that we all grew up adoring.

This is in the very early stages of development so we will be waiting a while. But we do know that the animation has begun and that they are currently casting the voice actors.

Kenji Kamiyamag (Ghost in the Shell series, Blade Runner: Black Lotus) has been attached to direct the film with Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance writers Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews will delivering the script.

Just like all screen adaptations, the new Lord of the Rings prequel will stick as close at they can to Tolkien’s original material but will also expand on the story.

Warner & New Line seem to be going big with The War of the Rohirrim and plan for a huge worldwide theatrical release. Expect to hear more news really soon. We will be following this and also the new Lord of the Rings Amazon series every step of the way!.

As always, thanks for reading.
