MADS: New One-Take Virus Horror Coming 17th October

MADS has been on the radar for a couple of months now and it looks like I was right. This is looking to be an adrenaline-fueled viral infection movie.

Ok, my mind goes to two places when I read about the premise of MADS. 1, it reminded me of George A Romero’s The Crazies and, 2, it reminded me of Garth Ennis’ ultra-violent graphic novel series CROSSED (which hugely inspired Rob Jabaz’s Taiwanese zombie flick The Sadness).

I’ve managed to avoid any major spoilers for myself and also you guys. If it is anywhere even near half the premise of the above-mentioned movies then we could have a new classic on our hands.

Does this virus give you an insatiable hunger for flesh and make you want to attack and infect others?

Does it make you want to kill yourself in violent ways?

Does it make you act out your most evil and darkest thoughts?

Or, does it simply want to infect you? Well, I can’t answer any of those questions but I’m 99.9% sure it’s going to be one of those scenarios and I am here for any of them.

Mads is shot in one continuous take (or edited to look that way). The film follows an 18-year-old who is eager to party. On his way to his dealer’s house to try a new experimental drug, he meets an injured woman on the side of the road.

His instincts make him pull over to help the bloodied woman but when she gets in the car, she starts to repeatedly bash her head until she kills herself. This is the beginning of a virus that is spreading at an apocalyptic rate.

MADS will be hitting Shudder on the 17th of October. I can’t wait to check it out.
