Great news, Wolf Creek 3 is CONFIRMED!

Isn’t this some of the most important news that Moviehooker could receive? Wolf Creek 3 is finally happening…well, sort of.

We always knew that Wolf Creek 3 was going to happen eventually. It’s a bit of a no-brainer with the following that the franchise has. I’m happy to hear the news of a new instalment because I’ve had a follower who has been, let’s just say, persistent in her quest to ask Moviehooker ” WHEN DUSE WOLF CREEK 3 COME OUT”. Picture those words written out in a way, I can only describe as a Jack Torrence special. I haven’t told this follower the most important news she/he has been waiting for, but I will be doing it straight after I write this article.

Wolf Creek 3 has been confirmed as Wolf Creek: Legacy and looks to be a complete reboot of the franchise. Greg McClean, the original director has passed the directing torch over to Wolf Creek editor Sean Lahiff but will serve as producer. Jon Jarrett will reprise his role as Aussie outback serial Mick Taylor.

The original Wolf Creek was released in 2005 (wow, almost 20 years now) and is loosely based on the killings of Australian outback killer Ivan Milat

In an interview with Deadline, McLean told us why he won’t be directing the new Wolf Creek movie:

“I’ve always believed in the power of fresh perspectives, and that’s why I’m thrilled to introduce Sean Lahiff as the director of Wolf Creek Legacy. Sean isn’t just stepping into this world; he’s been a part of it for years. This new chapter in the Wolf Creek saga is something I’m incredibly excited about: it’s a bold new story that honors the roots of the franchise while pushing it into new, uncharted territory.”

I can’t argue with anything McClean is saying. He’s been attached since 2005 so I’m happy the franchise gets to continue with a fresh new, nasty vision. It’s not like McClean has picked a randomer, Sean Lahiff has been a part of the Wolf Creek Pack for a long time. He knows the franchise and understands the brutality and legacy of Mick Taylor. It’s in safe hands, folks, and I can’t wait to get lost in the Aussie outback once again.
