Fan Of Cult/Folk Horror? check out these two upcoming releases.

Who doesn’t love a bit of cult/folk horror? it is a sub-genre that has been on the rise but a sub-genre we certainly still don’t have enough of. I am happy to share with you two new upcoming cult releases; a movie & a series – both sound really good.

THE FEAST

The Feast recently played at SXSW prestigious Midnighters section. This new cult/folk horror is set in Wales and is filmed entirely in Welsh which is something we have never seen before.

The Feast is about a wealthy family who is throwing a huge dinner party for family and close friends. Their home help needs replaced at the last minute and, unknown to them, their new servant plans to get revenge on every single one of them.

I have read a couple of trusted reviews and both of them were great. One of them compares the tone of the film to the first half of Martyrs and then things get insanely violent (also like Martyrs)

A new name in filmmaking to watch out for, folks. The Feast is the directorial debut from Lee Haven Jones. It is written by writer/producer Roger Williams.

ARCHIVE 81

New Upcoming Cult/Horror Releases – Archive 81

This new Netflix horror series is produced and co-directed by James Wan. Written by Rebecca Sonnenshine (Vampire Diaries) & Paul Harris Bordman (Exorcism of Emily Rose).

Archive 81 is about a video archivist that starts to piece together old videotape footage. He finds himself reconstructing film footage of a dangerous cult recorded by a documentary filmmaker called Melody Pendras.

The new Netflix series will consist of 8 one-hour episodes and stars  Ariana Neal & Mamoudou Athie.

The Feast will be finding its way to distribution soon. As for Archive 81, it looks like filming just wrapped this month (03/21). I wouldn’t be expecting any sooner than 2022. I will make sure to keep you all updated on both upcoming releases.

As always, thanks for reading.
