I’m back with the second part of top picks for Grimmfest 2024. Have a look at what I think are going to be some of the best films at the festival.
If you missed Moviehooker’s Grimmfest 2024 picks part one, you can check it out below. Now, let’s get to part 2
CRUMB CATCHER
Arrow Films recently picked this one up. A bizarre story of a newlywed couple who are held captive in a remote lake house by a crazy inventor and his bickering, sour wife. I’m not sure what to expect from this one, but it sure has my attention.

M
A new post-apocalyptic survival horror told through the eyes of a young boy making his way through a plague-filled wasteland in the hopes of finding civilisation. I will be writing a new list very soon featuring some new post-apocalyptic films and this one will be on it. Stay tuned for that.

AMSTERDAM ALERT
This one has been on the radar for a while now. Amsterdam Alert’s runtime is 37m – so it ain’t quite a short film and trust me, with a subject like this – a feature-length film would be harrowing to get through.
Every month in Amsterdam there is a drill from the government in case of a future attack to the country. In this heart-pounding film in the style of Threads makes this a horrific reality when the government issue that very warning: There is an incoming attack about to hit the city of Amsterdam and all residents have to evacuate immediately.

HERESY
Heresy is a new Dutch folk horror that is giving me The Devil’s Bath sort of vibes. It follows a woman who is battling her faith, the townsfolk and some sort of evil darkness she is drawn to that lurks in the woods.
This has a runtime of 60 minutes and will be followed by Amsterdam Alert (or the other way around) and presented as a grueling double-bill

PEG O’ MY HEART
Written, directed and starring Nick Cheung. Peg O’ My Heart follows a sleep-deprived taxi driver who puts every passenger’s life in danger when they enter his vehicle. One of his passengers is a doctor who specialises in sleep deprivation and offers him help. But when the doctor starts to uncover the reasons for his sleep disorder, he quickly realises that some things are better kept locked away.

DELIVERY RUN
One thing we don’t have enough of in horror movies is maniac killers on icy, dangerous roads, snow-ploughing people to death. Well, that’s about to change with Delivery Run
Yes, you guessed it, Delivery Run is the new snow horror you never knew you wanted. A delivery driver gets caught battling an unhinged snow-plough driver in the harsh, unforgiving Minnesota wilderness.
