THE G Review (2024): Dale Dickey Seeks Revenge in Outstanding Thriller

I will TRY not to make this review just a gushing love letter to Dale Dickey, but no promises.

Dale Dickey’s performance in the Karl Hearne revenge film, The G, is nothing short of perfection.

Ann is a woman who appears to have given up on herself, her husband, and the rest of the world. She’s a hardcore drinker, chain smoker, and foul-mouthed old lady who half-heartedly takes care of her wheelchair-bound husband and doesn’t take care of herself. The only thing she seems to care about in this sad existence is her granddaughter, Emma. With Emma, she is different-loving, softer.

During the middle of the night, Ann and her husband are kidnapped by a man who claims to be their legal guardian. They are taken to an elder care facility where we witness the abuse of residents who are believed to have hidden money and who are tortured, beaten, or even murdered if they won’t say where that money is.

With her home taken from her, she has nowhere else to go and Emma promises to get her out of there, but only succeeds in getting herself deeper into this corrupt world. After a tragic event, we begin to see Ann transmogrify into who she used to be. Her revenge on the men who saw her as weak is brutal and without remorse or feeling. She’s a bad mutha (shut yo’ mouth) and we see the familiarity that this isn’t anything new to her. She’s done this before.

Dickey conveys every emotion, every scene with such power, understanding, and beauty.

9/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ just for one predictable bit, otherwise, Dale Dickey’s best role to date.
