YUMMY Review: A Delicious & Satisfying Treat For Zombie Fans

Yummy is a new zombie flick from Belgium that recently hit the horror streaming platform Shudder.

Yummy was first brought to my attention when Fantasia International Film Festival announced their first wave of films for their 2020 programme

A mother & daughter along with the daughter’s boyfriend are taking a trip to a clinic. Both mother and daughter have very separate reasons for their visit. The daughter wants a breast reduction (so she can run for the bus lol). The mother wants to hold on to whatever little bit of youth she has left.

When they arrive at the clinic, there is just something “off” with the staff. Before we know it, the clinic is overrun by infected that want to eat your yummy entrails.

For a comedy, Yummy still has enough blood, guts and splatter to satisfy any gore-lover. And the comedy ain’t shit either, it is actually very funny and very well done. I found myself giggling a few times; sometimes at the jokes and sometimes just at how ridiculously over-the-top gory it was. I should also add that the gore looked fantastic. I love seeing how dedicated actors are by letting you cover them in fake goop…it ain’t that easy to wash off!

Yummy was a fun ride from beginning right up until the credits rolled.

I left a short review on Shudder. I said: we are overpopulated by shit zombie movies but every once in a while, one comes along to restore our faith in the zombie sub-genre. Yummy is one of the good ones…in fact, I fucking loved it.

Yummy is now available on Shudder and will also play at Fantasia Film Festival 2020. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. As always, thanks for reading.
