3 New Gritty Thrillers

Here is a list of 3 new gritty thrillers that I believe should be on everyones watchlist .

These gritty thrillers are from directors that I adore; Jeremy Saulnier, Cary Fukunaga and Justin Kurzel. If it was an option, I would be watching all threes of these as a fabulous action-packed triple-bill.

REBEL RIDGE

It feels good to be reporting on a new film by the awesome Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room, Blue Ruin, Murder Party) and this is the only one on the list that you guys will be able to check out right away – it is now available on Netflix.

Rebel Ridge is also written by Saulnier, and focuses on a marine who gets into a violent standoff with the corrupt local police in a small town after the money he was carrying was stolen by the police.

I loved this and thought it was a wonderful mix of Rambo and Reacher.

BLOOD ON SNOW

The new thriller from Cary Fukunaga, a man that sadly, I have not heard of in a while. I have been a big fan and close follower of Fukunaga’s work since his debut Sin Nombre.

Blood on Snow will star Tom Hardy and Aaron Taylor-Johnson and is based on a crime thriller by popular Scandinavian author Jo Nesbo. As well as Blood and Snow, Nesbo also had his novels, The Snowman and Headhunters adapted into a major motion picture

A hitman starts to fall for the his next target when he is hired by the husband of the woman he wants dead.

THE ORDER

The reviews have started to surface for new heist thriller The Order and they have been fantastic. From Justin Kurzel, the director of the wonderfully grim Snowtown Murders and starring Jude Law and Nicolas Hoult

The Order is giving me Point Break vibes and follows a group of bank robbers wanted for a string of heists and car thefts.
