Upcoming K Dramas – 5 New Series’ that all sound amazing.

In this new list of upcoming K Drama, we have horror, fantasy and action. And yup, we got another Korean zombie series on the way. Yay for the zombies! But that’s not all the horror we have for you. How about a new Netflix series from Train to Busan director Sang-ho Yeon? yes? well, then keep on reading!

Some of them have trailers and I have added them below. Expect the others to drop soon as they are all getting released this year.

The picture is from webtoon. Hellbound is live-action

We think that Hellbound is going to be one of the most talked-about shows of 2021. Here’s why: Firstly, the cast is impeccable: Jeong Min Park (Svaha: The Sixth Finger, Deliver Us From Evil), Yoo Ah-in (#Alive, Voice Of Silence, Burning). It’s also directed and co-written by Train to Busan director, Sang-Ho Yeon.

This new Netflix K Drama has elements of both, horror and fantasy and it will be a 6-part series. It is based on a hugely popular webtoon (webtoons adaptations seem to be the new craze and the content we are getting is remarkable and we have more for you on this list).

The story focuses on people who can predict their own death. When their number is called, a huge black angel (or monster) appears, kills them and takes them to the fiery pits of hell. We are more than sold on this. The visuals for the webtoon are haunting af.

A release date has yet to be confirmed…but we are getting it this year. There’s no trailer yet but trust me, this is going to BE HUGE.

I have found a press conference with a good English voiceover. This is a great look into what to expect and it has the entire cast with director/co-writer Sang-ho Yeon

It ain’t very often we see South Korea remake a British crime series. Undercover originally aired on BBC 1 (Not to be confused with the Dutch/Belgian Netflix series). It looks like they’ve changed the plot to suit the Korean audience. I haven’t checked out the original but that might not be a bad thing.

A civil rights lawyer begins to suspect her husband for a crime a happened decades ago. Expect a lot of amazing twists and turns as the story unfolds.

A lot of Korean crime K dramas are more procedural than they are action. Undercover looks to be heavier on the action than most others in the same sub-genre.

There’s no slowing down the Korean zombie craze. All Of Us Are Dead looks to have a similar plot to the fantastic South Korean zombie film #Alive. A group of survivors are trapped inside of their school building when a zombie virus turns everyone into flesh eaters.

Doesn’t sound too original but who knows? maybe we will get a mix of Alive and Kingdom.

We have another Webcomic adaptation, All of Us Are Dead is based on a webtoon called Now At Our School which ran from 2009-2011. Three years sounds like we have quite a bit of content for adapting. I am actually very excited about this one.

With the success of the Netflix series, Alice in Borderland (season 2 confirmed also, folks), it makes sense that Netflix wanna throw more cash at this new play-to-the-death survival game sub-genre.

Squid Game is about a group of characters who are all in financial difficulty or just losers in their own right. With no other way to pay their debts, they are left with no choice but to take part in a deadly game.

I am not sure what this game is and to be quite honest, I don’t want to. I can tell you that this looks like Battle Royale x100 Meets Alice In Borderland On Acid.

The game will have a whopping 456 CONTESTANTS!. As well as competing in the mystery game, they are also being stalked by people in pink overalls and masks. 456 players, only one winner can claim the prize. All the rest must die.

D.P is another upcoming Netflix action crime series. Two unlikely army officers are thrown together and put into the Deserter Pursuit Unit. Their job is to catch runaway soldiers and return them for their punishment. I am guessing that there will be a separate case in each episode. In the midst of all the action, comedy and drama, each runaway soldier will have a story to tell on why they are fleeing the army.

Netflix just dropped the English subtitled trailer a few days ago. Enjoy.

That’s it for this list. We hope you enjoyed it. I am sure you’ll agree, we have some great stuff coming our way.

As always, thanks for reading.
