Crossed: Garth Ennis’ Ultra-Violent Graphic Novel is going Live-Action

Garth Ennis’s ultra-violent masterpiece Crossed is getting a live-action film

Gorehounds and fans of zombies, viruses and the apocalypse – are you all ready for the most vile form of infection the world of cinema has ever witnessed?

The news that I have wanted to hear for years has finally been announced; Garth Ennis, the creator of The Boys and Preacher is finally getting his sickest work adapted for the big screen. That’s right, his sickest work. You may think: hey, what could be more twisted than The Boys or Preacher? – well, I can safely tell you that Crossed is, and this will be the craziest zombie/viral movie to be ever put on film. If you think The Boys and Preacher pushed some boundaries…wait until you all get a load of Crossed.

Crossed tells the story of a virus that has turned the world into violent psychopaths that want nothing more but to rip you apart or infect you to become like them. The infected all have a rash on their face, this rash almost always looks like a crucifix, this is where we get the name Crossed.

This isn’t some 28 Days Later rage-like virus. When you’re infected, you act out your sickest and most twisted desires (Yes, The Sadness took huge inspiration from Crossed) but you are still very much the person you were before.

The only thing I would find a bit worrying is that Crossed is such a huge universe – a universe that is so twisted and violent, that it is a shame to leave out any content. I guess what I am wondering is – why a film and not a series? Preacher and The Boys both got the TV treatment, I find this a little bit odd but I’ll still take it.

The Hollywood Reporter also broke the news that Garth Ennis has already written the screenplay with Six Studios set to produce and is currently looking for a director for the project.

So, make sure to stay tuned for more information on Crossed. This is a production that we will be following all of the way.
