Badlands Hunters came as quite a surprise. Am I complaining? absolutely not and here’s the great thing, it is hitting Netflix on January 26th
Okay, firstly, I had no idea that Badlands Hunters was even in production. James, one of Moviehooker‘s loyal followers Hooked me up with the news and I was blown away. Usually, my wait for releases is painfully longer than most. I follow most movies even before a script is written. It’s great to find out about Badlands Hunters because it is a film I honestly wanted to see happen.
– Here’s Why!
I was part of the press train for South Korea‘s Oscar entry Concrete Utopia and I had the pleasure of reviewing it. The film took place in a high-rise apartment complex after an earthquake destroyed the whole of Seoul leaving the complex the only remaining building. In Concrete Utopia, we mainly deal with the new law and government that has been formed to keep order. But as well as that, we constantly hear stories of the chaos and mayhem that is outside their concrete haven. Stories of lawless gangs, rape, murder and even cannibalism. I remember thinking on more than one occasion that I would love to see what was going on outside in the decimated streets of Seoul. This is what I am hoping we’re going to get with Badlands Hunters. And I’m pretty sure we’re going to get exactly that.
Badlands Hunters is directed by rising director Heo Myeong-haeng who also seems to have a Roundup sequel in post-production called The Round Up: Punishment which will also no doubt star South Korean superstar Ma Dong-seoK.
