NEW SCI-FI MOVIES 2024

A new list of upcoming or newly released independent sci-fi movies. I am hoping this list proves that we don’t always need a huge budget when it comes to science fiction. Let’s get to it.

FIRST TIME CALLER

First Time Caller is a low-budget sci-fi mystery that has been gaining some impressive reviews. Based on a hugely popular podcast, a DJ/podcaster gets a call from a mysterious man who’s about to reveal some shopping truths about mankind.

If you are a fan of movies with one setting and only a handful of cast members then you should check this one out.

THE MONOLITH

Another indie sci-fi, this time from Australia. Monolith is about an investigative journalist who lost her job due to misinformation on a story. She also is a podcaster who talks about unsolved mysteries. When a strange black brick comes into her possession she starts to question one of her theories when she realises it contains secrets and otherworldly powers.

MICKEY 17

The new film from legendary director Bong Joon-ho. Mickey 17 is based on a novel by author Edward Ashton. Starring Robert Pattinson in the leading role, it follows an expendable clone Mickey, every time he dies, a new replica clone is born but his memories are still intact from his previous life.

ALIEN: ROMULUS

I can not wait for Alien: Romulus. The new instalment from Evil Dead 2013 helmer, Fede Alvarez. Alien Romulus has been confirmed to be a standalone movie in the franchise. It will take place between Alien and Aliens. hopefully the start of a brand new terrifying universe.

SPACEMAN

Over the years I have become quite fond of Adam Sandler. As a 42-year-old man, I would not be a fan of his Happy Madison productions but the man can act when he has the right material. I think Spaceman is going to be one of those movies.

Sandler plays an astronaut lost in space. His loneliness and desperation for social interaction have him befriend a giant intergalactic spider (voiced by Paul Dano).

That’s it for this list of new sci-fI. Check back soon for more lists, reviews and movie/TV news. As always, thanks for reading.
