Upcoming Movies You Need To Know About

We are back with a brand new list of Upcoming Movies You Should Know About. This time, for a change, we have left Asia behind (for now) and focus on English-language upcoming releases (although one or two may be partially subbed)

THE NORTHMAN

Currently getting shot in Ireland, The Northman is the new film from Robert Eggers, writer/director of The Lighthouse & The VVitch.

The Northman is a 10th Century Viking revenge saga. That’s all we know about the plot…but in fairness, do we need to know anything else?. Nope.

Starring  Anya Taylor-JoyNicole KidmanAlexander Skarsgård, Ethan Hawke, Björk & Willem Dafoe

GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE

An assassin movie directed and co-written by Big Bad Wolves director  Navot Papushado.

Gunpowder Milkshake takes places over the course of one night. It follows three assassins from three different generations who must try and stop a cycle of violence.

The film has been described as a cross between Edgar Wright’s, Baby Driver & Quentin Tarantino’s, Kill Bill.

ARMY OF THE DEAD

Zack Snyder’s long-awaited return to the zombie genre since 2004’s Romero remake of Dawn Of The Dead

In the depths of a zombie apocalypse, a group of mercenaries are hired to pull off the biggest heist in history.

The news was recently released that Snyder will also be releasing a separate zombie film which will act as a prequel to Army Of The Dead. You will hear more about that flick when more news is announced.

LAST NIGHT IN SOHO

Edgar Wright’s return to the horror genre – only this time, there ain’t any comedy.
Last Night In Soho stars  Anya Taylor-JoyMatt SmithThomasin McKenzie.
A young aspiring fashion designer somehow finds herself in 1960s London, England where she meets her idol. Things take a dark turn when she learns that 1960s London is full of shady characters and every one of her actions comes with consequences.

ANTLERS

At first look, I thought “meh”, this just sounds like a creature-feature with a killer moose (although that gets my vote too).
Antlers is a new horror directed by Scott Cooper. Cooper is responsible for some amazing thrillers and dramas including Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Out Of The Furnace & Hostiles.Set in a small isolated Oregon town, a sheriff (Jesse Plemons), a teacher (Kerri Russell) and a student must battle a legendary killer creature…with Antlers!.

THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK

The highly-anticipated origin story of Tony Soprano from HBO’s The Sopranos that deals with Tony Soprano’s life as a young gangster in New Jersey.
The Saints Of Newark stars Michael Gandolfini (James’ Son) as well as Vera FarmigaRay LiottaJon Bernthal & Corey Stoll.
Written by The Sopranos writers, Lawrence Konner and David Chase. This is going to be a great mafia origin story!.

SAMARITAN

Not a lot of information to go on regarding, Samaritan. The film stars Sylvester Stallone as a worn-out superhero
A young kid realises that the superhero who was thought to have been defeated decades ago in an epic battle may be still alive.
I have no idea if this is going to be for kids or they’re (hopefully) going to follow suit with Amazon’s The Boys.
Directed by Julius Avery, director of Nazi-zombie, Bad Robot produced Overlord

THE LITTLE THINGS

A new serial killer movie starring Rami Malek, Denzel Washington & Jared Leto.
Again, not a lot of information on this one but it is said to be about two cops that clash while hunting for a serial killer
Washington and Malek are playing the two cops which hopefully means we will see Leto in the role of the serial killer.
Written and directed by John Lee Hancock, writer/director of Netflix Original, The Highwaymen and The Rookie.

THE ASSET

A group of hackers accidentally steal millions off of a well-known crime boss. They are forced into hiding and have to train for their inevitable face-off with the crime syndicate.
Directed by Martin Campbell (The Foreigner, Casino Royale) and written by Richard Wenk (The Equaliser, The Equaliser 2)

That’s it for this list of Upcoming Movies You Need To Know About.

As always, thanks for reading.
