Scared Shitless Opens To Sold Out Crowds @ Fantasia

Another film that has been high up on our watchlist is Scared Shitless. I mean, who wouldn’t love a film about a lab experiment that escapes and makes its way into the plumbing system in an apartment block?

Toronto, July 22, 2024 – Happy Cat Productions is thrilled to announce that last night’s world premiere of Vivieno Caldinelli’s SCARED SHITLESS accomplished what it set out to do and both terrified and delighted the sold-out audience at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival. The capacity crowd at Concordia University’s Salle J.A. De Séve were gifted branded SCARED SHITLESS t-shirts. In attendance at the premiere were Vivieno Caldinelli with stars Daniel Doheny and Chelsea Clark, writer and co-executive producer Brandon Cohen and producer Lewis Spring.

“The energy was absolutely insane!,” said Caldinelli. “To have this kind of reception — At home in Canada and at Fantasia, was a dream come true. We couldn’t have imagined a better experience to kick off our world premiere and festival run if we wrote it ourselves.”

In SCARED SHITLESS, a plumber and his germophobic son are forced to get their hands dirty to save the residents of an apartment building when a genetically engineered, blood-thirsty creature escapes into the plumbing system.

Featuring epic creature design by Steve Kostanski, who also serves as co-executive producer on the film, SCARED SHITLESS premiered as part of the Septentrion Shadows Section of the festival.

Vivieno Caldinelli is a Canadian director who has managed to apply his childhood obsessions, fears, and rare comedic vision into becoming an award winning director. SCARED SHITLESS is his sophomore feature film, following SEVEN STAGES OF ETERNAL BLISS starring Kate Miccuci, Sam Huntington, Dan Harmon, Mark McKinney, Maria Bamford, Dana Gould, Jon Dore, Rhea Seahorn, and Taika Waititi. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was produced by Company X (Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, and Josh C. Waller) and MarVista Entertainment. Caldinelli has directed several other acclaimed shorts in addition to establishing himself as one of the country’s leading TV comedy directors with credits on Baroness Von Sketch, Humantown, Picnicface, Hotbox and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Don, an old school plumber and his germophobic son, Sonny, are forced to risk their
lives in order to save the residents of an apartment complex when a genetically
engineered killer mutant creature escapes into the building’s plumbing system.
With the unlikely help of the night manager, Patricia, the trio vows to kill the
blood-thirsty creature before it grows even larger and escapes into the city’s main
water line– saving the world from total extinction! PORTAL TO HELL director Vivieno
Caldinelli, whose last film SEVEN STAGES TO ACHIEVE ETERNAL BLISS had its world
premiere at Tribeca, takes us on a wild adventure that touches on the universal fear
of being attacked when we’re most vulnerable… on the toilet!
