Missing You: Forgotten Greats No.7

For number seven in my Forgotten Greats series, I have chosen the South Korean serial killer/revenge thriller MISSING YOU.

When the subject of South Korean serial killer movies comes up, Missing You is a movie that very rarely makes the list. This is unfortunate, because not only does this film deliver on the serial killer sub-genre, but it is also one hell of a revenge film. Sold yet? Thought so.

In Missing You, the film starts with a serial killer standing trial for the brutal murder of 7 innocent people. However, there is very little evidence to connect him to these heinous crimes and although he smirks in the eyes of the grieving spectators, he is only convicted of one murder. He is sentenced to just 15 years, leaving the families of the deceased screaming at the court’s unbelievable, unjustifiable verdict.

15-years laters, the killer is released from prison not knowing what hell awaits him. A detective will stop at nothing to make sure he pays for the murders he committed to fulfil a promise he made to the victims’ families. Not only that, but a young woman is out for vengeance to avenge her father who also died at the hands of the evil killer.

Okay, so Missing You wouldn’t be as good but it really would be up there with I Saw The Devil. This is one hell of a serial killer film and no surprise it is also from South Korea.

The streaming service Tubi has just been made available in the UK/Ireland and you can stream Missing You there for absolutely free.
