Parasyte: The Grey: Everything You Need To Know

Parasyte: The Grey is one of those titles where it seems I have been waiting a lifetime to see released.

When I get a title that I am excited about, something takes over. I don’t know what but I become sort of obsessed and I would be constantly searching, sometimes on a daily basis for any sort of production updates. This was the case with Yeon Sang-ho’s Parasyte: The Grey

So, I can finally confirm that it will be released on April 5th and season one will consist of a just 6-episodes. All of this wait and I will have that series binged in 5 hours. 6 episodes ain’t very much and very rare for South Korean K Dramas/K horror

A Brief History On Parasyte

Parasyte is a Japanese manga sci-fi series that ran from 1989 to 1994 and has a total of 10 volumes. A anime series then followed with 24 episodes which was then followed by two live-action films released in 2014 and 2015.

The story of an alien invasion in the form of little parasitic space worms that borrow inside of you and take control of your brain. when these space worm take control, your body is able to morph into the most dangerous and hideous of weapons and monsters…all with only one living purpose: destroy all humans.

When an alien fails to get into the brain of 17-year-old slacker, Shinichi, it borrows into his hand. When he wakes, his hand has a life of its own and is able to morph into the deadliest of weaponry. Shinichi names his new alien buddy Migi and the two set out to put a stop to the alien invasion.

I was very worried when I heard about the two live action films. I mean, I had no issue on the acting or the writing or directing. It was that Parasyte would have no choice but to be an extremely CGI-heavy film. I’m delighted to say that the CGI in the live-action films was great. In fact, it is still way better than a lot of CGI-heavy films getting released today.

Parasyte: The Grey will be set in the same universe as Shinichi and Migi and will follow a group of survivors as they try to defeat the parasitic space worm threat and restore order to South Korea.

Starring: Jeon So-nee, Koo Kyo-hwan, Lee Jung-hyun. Creators:Yeon Sang-ho, Ryu Yong-jae.
